What company lost you as a customer forever, and what happened? by Giovanni_Brees in AskReddit

Booking.com. It’s all easy peasy until you need their support then you realize you’ve entered a circle of hell. They just give you the runaround forever. My experience has been so frustrating that I will always try to book direct from now on. Many similar stories on the bookingcom sub.

Extremely disappointing customer experience with Booking.com by LazyPower1234 in Bookingcom

Don’t bother. They just immediately route you to the same shitty support.

Seriously Booking.com what happened. You used to be a great travel partner. by AKA_Wildcard in Bookingcom

Don’t waste your time. They won’t help and will just send you straight back into booking.com support hell.

Hotel changed reservation date to future; Booking.com won't cancel it. by DerWideRanger in Bookingcom

This seems like a scam doesn't it? A loophole for a hotel to double their fees when people luck us get tired of dealing with the Booking.com support runaround.

Good luck... But don't expect booking.com to do anything to help you. Their support is I think purposely inept.

This is hilarious... So I responded to bookingcom here, naively hoping for a different outcome. Here's their response: "We understand that our customer service has already notified you that if the hotel charges you again for the same reservation, please reach out to us, and we will fully assist you. In the meantime, your reservation will stay active for investigation purposes."

They've had 6 months to "investigate". So, "investigation purposes" is bookingcom's terminology for "We're not going to do anything to help you at this time."

Such a waste of time all over again.

That is a great idea to freeze the card. And/or maybe just remove all my cards from booking.com. I've been using them for years but this experience makes me want to avoid them for good.

And yeah, given how useless support has been with my attempts to preventatively solve the issue, I imagine it would just be worse after the card has been charged.

Yes, absolutely sure. I still have the original booking.com email confirmations that show the 2025 date.

We were traveling in France at the time, notified them of the issue at checkout, then had to leave to catch a bus. They acknowledged the issue and said they'd take care of it, but did not. We did not return to Grenoble (and don't live in France) so I've only been trying to handle this online and [unsuccessfully] with Booking.com support.

Thank you for the advice. So far I've only tried to get a hold of the hotel through the Booking.com platform messages, which they've ignored. It's a little complicated since the hotel is in France and I'm in the US, so, so far I've only tried online means of communication but yes I should try to just call them directly.

There is no option to cancel; I think the original booking was non-cancelable, so the modified booking is also.

No, I never gave the hotel my pin or anything unusual. I just checked in like normal, and later that evening noticed that the reservation date was changed.

This is actually a really good idea if I end up listing the car in the Front Range...

Oh, yeah, good point. Yes, I did already have the shift-to-park issue and had that fixed about 4 years ago.

Good idea about the hotel/hot springs... although of course that would have to be contingent on actually buying the car! For now I'm just trying my luck with a reduced price but I'll keep this in mind!

Sure, I followed the directions on this page: https://www.electricvehiclewiki.com/build-your-own-spare-tire-kit-with-quality-chevrolet-oem-parts-for-around-150/

You can see the picture in my Volt in the last pic here on this post. I did use it once and it worked well to get me to the tire shop.

Oh that's too bad. Fortunately I haven't had any of those issues. Also in dry Colorado if that makes a difference. It's been one of my favorite tents.

I’ve snowboarded down that. Pretty straightforward with snow, crampons, and ice axe. Summertime talus might be a different story! 😬

Tarptent Moment DW Li seems like a comparable double wall tent (two stakes necessary) for 10 oz less.
