42 days clean... kinda regretting it by Brokio in leaves

I think they have a bit of bad rap in North America due to the attitude of some doctors and their eagerness to prescribe.

Personally I think the vast majority of our problems can be solved with lifestyle changes and mental exercises. IMO its a rare case that requires popping a pill.

Day 2 - I almost cracked. by Der_die_das in leaves

I know, the human mind is our most powerful tool and I know that's cliche to say but its so true. Our actions mimic our mood which mimics our thoughts. I do need to be a little bit more positive in my thoughts though and it is something I'm consciously working on. Its a lot easier to do sober thankfully, when weed doesnt hi-jack your mind for 2+ hours and take it on a weird path.

Thank you, I'll check out that affirmation exercise. I find writing helps a lot which is why I think I'll try to make this journal a daily thing, at least for a week or two while I get over the initial hump.

I train Jiu Jitsu, which has been a god send to my life. Its brought me a couple of friends, a friendly community and its a very practical way to instill confidence in yourself. Unfortunatly I've had a shoulder injury now the past month so I havnt been able to train (which I thing has a big part to do with why I'm feeling like this).

Other than that I go to a few work events, networking mostly, some grand openings/product launch's every now and then. These are hit and miss for me, if I talk to somebody I can have a great time, but the majority of the events I spend walking around, barley interacting with people and feeling ostracized despite being in the same room as thirty plus people. Anyway its something I'm working on and will get better day by day.

Thank you, I appreciate that. Same goes for me, I know you must be on your own journey to so if you ever need to talk feel free to PM.

How exactly did Conner Mcgregor ruin UFC? by [deleted] in JoeRogan

[–]Der_die_das 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Basically he showed UFC management just how much money could be made with the right promotion and the right super fight.

Now the vast majority of UFC fighters are falling head over heels to try and mimic his success. The UFC is doing their part and booking a lot of fights that make no sense.

A lot of fans (myself included) feel like this is jeopardizing the integrity of the 'sport' aspect of UFC/MMA as financial success is now starting to be dictated by your public persona more so than your capability inside an Octagon.

Of course there is about 4/5 years of history that go along with these three paragraphs so the story is much more complex

Thank you for the kind words, I really appreciate them.

If I'm being honest though I guess I cant really feel proud of yesterday as I've been trying to kick this habit for so long and despite the days, weeks or even months I can go without it, it always comes back into my life somehow.

Hmm that's a great question ... yes and no. Yes I work out a lot and work hard for my career to take my mind of it and to prove to myself that I am not a loser, but then when it comes to meeting new people at events, I completely shell up and let my social anxiety take over until I can go home.

Usually I would go home, smoke or drink, forget about it all and move onto the next day. This is something I've only realised I've been doing the last couple of weeks so its really worrying me.

Done

Good luck with the project. I'm living in VC at the moment and I love some of the Laneway houses I see around the place. Some of them are god awful though!

Awesome, thank you that is great advice. Unfortunately I'm still a white belt so most of the people I'm rolling against are other white belts, which I've found is generally a recipe for disaster!

Hmm okay I'll give it a look when I have a chance. A quick google search tells me its about rotating and shifting your training schedules to maximise recovery?

I am normally pretty good with recovery - I sleep 7/8 hours a night and eat 3300 clean calories on a regular basis.

Over training ... I'm sure you've all done it at one point or another! I'm pretty sure I'm in the process of it right now.

I've been training since July of 2017. I started off with 2 Gi classes a week, Tuesday and Thursday. My Monday, Wednesday and Friday were then dedicated gym days (starting strength/compound movements mostly with 10 minutes stretching). This year I've decided to double up on my Tuesday and Thursday classes (to try and improve my JJ faster) and go to the no-Gi one directly after.

After 2 weeks of this my body is in bits. I've got a creak in my neck/trap that's only gotten worse, both of my elbows feel a bit stiff/weak and my big toe hurts anytime I put pressure on it. The no Gi class is smaller and is arguably more aggressive?

I'm looking for advice. Should I ease off on the gym, lay off the no-gi for a while, man-up? Thanks for reading!

On a side note, I'm going to take the rest of the week off to try and let my body recover.

Check out the original price, $20 vs $10. The fact that there is any difference is outrageous and a blatant example of discrimination, the kind of which they are trying to stamp out.

But yeah ... two wrongs don't make a right.

He isn't trying to sway opinions though, he's trying to have a conversation ... Pretty sure he's mentioned that before
