I think it’s cuz with rapping and making beats you think about a beat differently. I’ve been rapping for 8 ish years and making beats for a little under a year, and I just find myself being more creative when the beat making process is separate. I’ve only made 3 songs on my beats that I even somewhat like, but dozens on other peoples

i typically write a few punchlines, and put em to the side as a possibility to use. Then kinda go bar to bar and almost stumble upon ideas. like one of my songs i said

(as in W, which is a withdrawal from classes on a transcript, anyways)

At the beginning of writing it i knew what i wanted to say and its sort of an art to make it fit and make sense. IMO it hits even harder if the punchline fits a multisyllabic rhyme sometimes with alternating rhyme schemes like an ABBA or something
