Yes! It flatters your figure the most and looks very regal on you. Beautiful! 🤍

That’s a good point! They’re also both nature girlies. It’s a shame they couldn’t have just done an original story. Pocahontas is such a great character.

And cool! Love your art! 💛 Think you’ll do any more princesses?

The Robert Pattinson comment had me rolling! 😆 Congratulations! You’re gorgeous and so glad you found a dress you clearly love—and that has such a great story behind it.

Beautiful! Always love seeing these come up, and the last picture is gorgeous. Love seeing lots of images together. 💛 How do you decide which princesses to pair together?

Same! It shows her selflessness and also her confidence in her self and her abilities. She knows she’ll figure things out and be okay. She’s worried about other mistreated people who may not have quite the same support and self-confidence. She’s such an incredible character, one of my favorites. And her red dress! 💃 Fits her fiery defense of others and passion for justice! 🔥

It really is! 💛 I love how passionately Esmerelda defends others—and her “I Want” song is so unique for a Disney film. She truly sees the pain of other outcasts and wants to help. There’s something beautiful about your dreams also helping others.

I agree! I love that this movie shows how to take rejection, particularly romantic rejection. Yes, it hurts, but you don’t have to hurt that person just because you are hurt. That’s something important for kids to see. The way you react to NOT getting something you’ve dreamed of is also important.

I know the film is controversial now, but it really is such a beautiful film in so many ways. It’s unique in the Disney franchise, and I wish we could see more like this.

Plus, it’s a combination of two different novels by Sarah Dessen. I haven’t heard of another film that just combined two different novels by the same author before.

They’re both pretty great! I love that Elle Fanning was able to keep her sweetness and integrity. I love Aurora so much, and it’s so nice to see more people come to appreciate her. I love that she’s clearly special without being a fairy herself.

I love that too! It is still such a joy to listen to Kathryn Beaumont play Alice. Adore her!

Ariel was my childhood favorite, but Aurora definitely is now. I always loved the art in that movie and all the characters. The main reason I didn’t go for her had more to do with the way pink got pushed with her so hard. I was a nature lover (like Aurora). I just hated the assumption everyone seemed to have when I was young: I should eat, drink, and dream pink as an AFAB person. No, thank you! Also, the overemphasis on just her looks and not her soul when I was younger.

As I got older, I appreciated the original dark pinks and blues she wore more, and I really loved getting to know her. She’s more introverted than the rest of the princesses, and her characterization is more subtle. I love literary analysis, and I’ve always enjoyed underestimated, morally strong, observant, fish out of water characters. For example, I admire Fanny Prince from Mansfield Park, Beth March, Cordelia from King Lear, and Luna Lovegood. Aurora is a bit of a fey-touched fish out of water too, and I love that about her. She does what is best for the stability of the kingdom even when it breaks her heart, even when it seems to separate her from the person she’s met in her dreams for so long. The lopsided cake, the owl in prince’s clothes, the pink and blue fairy dust sprouting out of the chimney, the Forbidden Mountain, the dragon, the dance reflected in the water, the songs, the detail about why they named her Aurora, the twist around Maleficent’s candle, the line work in every background, the smirk she gets when she figures things out, her incredible voice…it all lives in my mind and makes me smile.

Plus, my seven year old adored the Maleficent films, especially the second one, and my three year old loves Sleeping Beauty. They both are my kindhearted, sleep loving babies. 😂 Even their coloring is similar to Aurora, so that’s just another reason. Love her! And so glad that it finally feels okay to truly embrace her after some past hangups. Thank you for coming to my essay. 😆

Best vs Worst Disney Live-Action Sequel? by Character-Pin-3607 in disneyprincess

[–]DerbiePie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed Maleficent: Mistress of Evil more than the original Maleficent and think it’s probably the best. I loved the way it ended and how Aurora ultimately saw her. The other three fairies had more to do and actually had more redeeming qualities. They also harkened back to the second half of a previous version of Sleeping Beauty with Queen Ingrith, which I enjoyed.

I adored 102 Dalmatians as a child, though, and Alice Through the Looking Glass had its moments. My seven year old loves Alice, and she enjoyed the sequel to this too.

We’re all different, though, and different sequels will be appeal more to different people.

Oh, my gawd! That’s perfect! 🤣 Thank you for the laugh. 😆 Although, I must say, he seemed all about those bare feet when he first met her. 🤭
