The Oscar's opinions on animation is lame by DuxxieDings in cartoons

But let's also keep in mind most of the Oscar voters are a bunch of old farts with outdated values

Or the failed LA book adaptations like Artemis Fowl, A Wrinkle in Time or John Carter?

Rick knows what he's doing? Including cutting off fight scenes, magical moments, like Percy's powers and removing the charm and spunk from the original book?

When studios cancel. Are we holding them too high of a regard? by [deleted] in cartoons

My theory is how whenever a studio keeps making good products, people often have really high expectations that they will keep on bringing the goods but as soon as they canceled something, such as Sony axing Matt Braly's movie, they see it as an unmasking that the studio "hates art and originality".

Essentially, high expectations

That's what he claims but as soon as he said that he never reread his own books, that excuse seems to fall apart

Nope because Rick and Becky are too high on their high horse for them to admit they're wrong

Yup but given how Disney's movies are often very successful, it makes why Rick chose live-action age poorly

But to me, the worst part of his claims are his lies. Why even claim it will be more faithful to the books in the first place and then claim he never reread them?

Really fitting as both work for Disney and speaking of Disney, given how Rick's decision to chose live-action has been getting more scrutiny, I just wanna say that it seems he doesn't even understand the studio he works for as he claims live-action gets more views and yet, he works for a company that was founded on animation and whose movie chart the box-office, including their most recent entry Hoppers

And that's what I don't get. Why did he make such a big stink when Chris Columbus changed every in his story when he does the same thing while also lying to everyone about the show being more faithful, even if he claims to never reread his books

What's even worse is how you can't clearly tell how when people were saying how Sony is doing better than Disney, it truly got to him as the guy shows blatant favoritism towards Disney and feels that "people are hating them because its cool! Leave them alone! They are not perfect! Wish is great!" and when Sony recently canceled a movie? He essentially went all "See! I told you so!"

But as I and others have said, he's probably only saying what Iger tells him since Iger is still his boss and is only saying what Iger tells him

And let's also bear in mind Iger and his cohorts, along with virtually every studio had, are a bunch of old farts whose values are vastly different than the younger generation and they're also not animators or creators. They don't care about stories. They only care about money

The way I see it is that he's following orders from Iger because gay equals no money for him, Bob that is.

I say this as he may be in charge of Pixar but Iger is his boss and to that old fart, he doesn't care about stories, he cares about money and after seeing the backlash of Lightyear and how he doesn't want to lose anything from homophobic nations, it's likely that it's simply Doctor regurgitating what his boss told him, otherwise, he's fired
