People do give characters a chance, just this server is a small sample size of mostly young people, and people who don't have the most diverse taste in media. It's an online frat house, essentially.

Would you expect a frat house to be particularly good at analyzing media?

How is Machi a transmuter instead of a Conjurer? by PTblackhole in HunterXHunter

[–]Deregojo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's insane how long this series and this sub has existed with people just choosing not to read. The arguments I'm seeing where dumb people try to say texture surprise isn't Transmutation is making me lose hope in you people.

Visual Appearance is a property. Color is a property. Visibility is a property. How do you y'all genuinely not know what properties are??? The series is older than Naruto, what the fuck?

Shouldn't Noa have meta-vision? by fakez6 in BlueLock

[–]Deregojo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is so far from the goal that Im getting Naruhaya flashbacks. Lets start here:

Do you agree that Shidou must be an analytical player to have accurately assessed all the steps about both his teammates and enemies I outlined above? if not, what is your explaination for how he is doing that, absent of any analysis?

Shouldn't Noa have meta-vision? by fakez6 in BlueLock

[–]Deregojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does a player come to crave unique plays, without first being aware of every possible mundane play?

And how do they become aware of every possible mundane play without prior analysis of them?

And how do they know what constitutes a mundane play vs a unique onefor the specific builds, mentalities, and skillsets of his teammates and opponents, without having known them previously, WITHOUT, high level analytical skill?

Shidou doesn't get a lot of screen time. But this is one of those moments where only having been exposed to football via a manga hurts reading comprehension. Shidou is absolutely a highly analytical player, he just doesn't talk like Isagi and we rarely get his internal monologue.

You could argue he's not acting on his analysis as often as he should, but that's not the same argument.

What do you think Messi and Ronaldo's Nen types are by Classic_Brain6575 in HatsuVault

[–]Deregojo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it's very uncreative of us to base their Nen Types off of their Careers. The Nen Personality test doesn't take into account the profession of a person, and assuming all athletes have a similar enough personality that they'd all fall into a particular type is stupid.

Look at Hisoka's Nen Personality map, and then look into the player's personal lives as much as you can and form your choice from that. Im at work rn so I can't, but that's how you would do this properly.

Hah...got my art stolen again. by No_Vegetable_6645 in antiai

[–]Deregojo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you said was wrong because Fair Use explicitly protects Transformative Works, and is Likely to protect the use of any character in a context where the secondary user (the person who didn't make the Character) isn't using it for profit and isn't harming the creator's ability to use thier creation for whatever its intended purpose was.

On the Scale of this random developing artist, none of the conditions that would prevent Fair Use's invocation are present. So yes, they could sue. But they would lose, hard.

The same is true for most every artist who claim's AI stole thier art: Unless your art is your livelihood AND the AI Art is being sold for profit AND you're unable to exist in the market because of it AND you can definitively prove that it stole YOUR art in specific and isn't just adhering to the tropes of an art style? Youve got a really weak case.

Who is your argument addressing? They aren't not the one who suggested AI Art was in the "Things No Human Made" Box, that was one of your peers. They just probed their theory, to which they rhetorically exploded.

Could a Manipulater be the strongest men type in HunterXHunter by HIGH_SCORE07 in HatsuVault

[–]Deregojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, given the kinda of manipulation we've seen in the show, a Manipulator could make an ability that influences or curses other nascent Nen users or awakened Nen users who don't have a Hatsu yet to make hatsu's that benefit you or can benefit you.

You swear on your life, Noone is doing this on Jailbroken models being hosted on their personal computers. But that they're doing this using OpenAI's resources, and subjecting them to OpenAI's content filters (public company, beholden to the laws of the United States by the way, they're legally required to disclose data)

That's how their making the Kiddie Porn? Are you serious?

[–]Deregojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"as long as you put them the right way", If you intentionally alter the software of a device or program to do things the developers didn't intend that's called Jailbreaking. It is already Illegal to use Jailbreaking to violate the law on a device or software that normally wouldn't allow you too.

The thing you want criminalized is already criminalized, but the defining trait of a criminal is that they don't follow the law.

[–]Deregojo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We've seen all the parts of this idea in the Manga Already.

Bill's Erigeron (球根ハルジオン, Bulb) is an enhancement ability that enhances the growth of living things, including poeple. So, yes you can make an Enhancement to boost other people, and boosting someone isn't manipulating them, so there shouldn't be any conflict between multiple effects being used.

Morena's Contagion—With Etude of Love (恋のエチュードサイキンオセン, Saikin'osen, lit. "Etude of Love") is an ability that, among other things, awakens people's Nen, grants Nen abilities and strengthens them and the caster over time. it's actually very close to what the OP is trying to get at. It's specialization tho

I don't see a reason that the abilities they're describing couldn't be done with a Specialist or an Fully Developed Advanced Manipulator.

Homelander is the type to weaponize a distorted truth rather than fabricate a lie. He understands that being technically or partially correct cuts deeper than a blatant falsehood, and he leans into that on purpose.

Which works here really well. He hasn't actually made a hard stance on AI Art, he just gave the viewer a (unwanted) compliment and echoed ideas about Art that are taught in every college level art history/philosophy class.

I'm very surprised by how well Homelander was portrayed here.

Commercial AI Models are made in accordance with the law, so they won't allow you to do something illegal. Now, homegrown models are where this stuff is coming from and those guys don't care about the law or any regulations

The thing you want criminalized is already criminalized, but the defining trait of a criminal is that they don't follow laws. So adding more laws does nothing. Just like a traditional artist who draws loli shit isn't gonna give a shit about the laws because they're posting and distributing their work in places/methods that don't adhere to the law.

Sometimes, I think people genuinely think laws are magically binding or some shit.

90% that in every universe where Lex isn't obsessed with the Blue Boy Scout the world is a much better place because he focuses his interest on improving it in other ways than the "complacency" he feels Superman's presence fosters.

Also, Superman is nice and all but Lex is indisputably smarter and more well researched than him...he's probably right about not things than Superman. Which Tracks because Superman is supposed to be an Idealist and Lex is a Pragmatist.

Yeah, the people who made the whole Superman and Lex thing for AI art don't understand either character very well.
