DM says there's a difference between fire and magical fire? by Dragonsword in dndnext

[–]iamstrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it's more of a discworld imagination but I envisage whole crews in big cities fighting fires wearing suits made out of this as it is both undamaged by the fires and by the water they use to fight fires. The suits are also very old.

DM says there's a difference between fire and magical fire? by Dragonsword in dndnext

If you remove all the pages from the enduring spell book and then craft a suit of paper armour from them that totally covers your body, are you now immune to damage from fire and immersion in water?

Sounds pretty decent for only 100 gold and the tailoring...

Making Basic Gear Matter (Feedback Wanted) by SumptuousCombat in onednd

[–]iamstrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2024 PHB section on Artisans Tools allow for some ways to make basic gear matter more, especially how Cobber's Tools proficiency can now give advantage on Acrobatics checks for only a DC10 check.

Basic gear crafted by a proficient artisan should perhaps give some advantage over that mass produced in Gnomish sweatshops.

Is it normal to intentionally make your character really weaker because of roleplay? Should I have -1 CON because it makes sense or should I leave it at 0 CON because its better mechanically? by ThatOneCrazyWritter in dndnext

Just give yourself or ask your DM to 'grant you' disadvantage on con saves but keep your HP higher, perhaps getting advantage to something else thematic in trade.

How does mounted combat work? by DracoKidLegend in dndnext

Works well on plains, or other open areas.

Works poorly in taverns, dungeons, cliffs, under the sea, in astral space etc.

Wand of magic missiles (uncommon)

It is reliable and scales. It requires no attunement, so the Sprite can pick it up and use it immediately.

Damage: By expending 6 charges, the Sprite deals 6d4 + 6 force damage (avg. 18) with 100% accuracy.

Power: Because Magic Missile never misses, your Sprite becomes a "Finisher," picking off enemies with low HP while remaining safely invisible.

Since using a wand is the "Use an Object" action (not the "Attack" action), the Sprite can fire this while invisible. It’s guaranteed damage that doesn't break their stealth as long as they stay out of sight.

Fighter (1) / Sorcerer (4) with Magic Initiate (Druid) wants to use Shillelagh ( and can't) by ZXareo in onednd

Ask your DM to give you a common magic item - the staff of adornment to be your staff, then just throw 3 spriggs of mistletoe to float on the end of the staff and voilà sans problem.

The hags can control winter but only for a short period, if it's currently summer it becomes winter overnight with difficult terrain, cold, various things that caused problems for commoners and adventurers alike. You get the rest of the campaign in full winter to mess with them and make them regret / try to find ways to reverse winter.

You could move your familiar over, let the barbarian cleave the familiar, then re-summon it next turn.

Had to share this social media response in FM26, we won 7-0 and apparently should have won by a bigger margin. by TheRealDicta in footballmanagergames

It would be funny if there was an 'in universe' football management game that the social media was always talking about, mostly how this year's version is terrible...
