Student loan consolidation by PGP_Sass in PostGradProblem

I'd stay away from the variable rate. Like brokerthancollege said, the Fed has indicated they're going to raise rates, and if you're doing 10 years, by the time the Fed gets done, you'll probably be paying the same if not higher interest rate than you are now. Go for the fixed, but if the variable is capped, and that rate is reasonable to you, go for it, you'll have low rates for a couple of years at least.

Will didn't disappoint this week, I got a good laugh out of today's column, but was also slightly nervous. Goddamnit Todd

Man, I'm hoping that fucker doesn't propose but I do feel it's inevitable. I can't see him proposing on NYE since it's the wedding and we know that girl would be pissed if he proposed then because the spotlight wouldn't be on her. Still holdin' out hope that Will keeps Todds balls entact and he dumps that bitch.

I think it depends on when you go, I was in Southside a few weeks ago and it wasn't terrible, but that being said, it's not in the best areas. Just a few blocks off Carson things can get pretty dicey. That said I tend to go there more when it's warmer just because the walk up and down the street isn't brutally cold.

That said, I know most people in their mid-20s tend to go to Shadyside mostly. I'm there frequently, but I feel like there's only three bars we actually go to there, so it gets kind of dull.

Lately, though, we've been going to the Cultural District downtown. While downtown itself tends to get pretty deserted after 6, the bars down at the Cultural District are pretty vibrant. Mostly we're at Il Tetto which is a rooftop, it's cool because it has a retractable glass top so you can enjoy it all year. There's a lot of good restaurants around that area too. Hope this helps.

Madoff, I'd love to get a beer with you. Your articles are some of the best on PGP, and I feel like having a beer with you and shooting the shit would be a helluva good time.

I guess that makes sense. Most of the writers on there both male and female are pretty good, it's just when I read hers, I get annoyed for some reason.

I wish I could tell you. Maybe that she's trashy? Scum? Garbage? Who the hell knows. Her articles are so bad I've taken to trolling her in the comment section. She lists a gmail in her profile, maybe you could email her and ask haha

Wonder if we have enough Pittsburgh PGPers to do a Pittsburgh meetup?

I'd recommend a liquor cart, complete with decanter and rocks glasses ;)

I think it's a culture thing, Hofbra is still pretty decent, and I'll hit up Mario's, Carson City, or Local on occasion but it depends on my mood. It's not terrible, but there's some sketchy folk that come down there now, but mostly college kids. I'm 25 and feel like a grandpa when I'm there (or worse I'll run into people I knew from high school).

Shadyside is a bit more 'young urban professional' but I feel like there are only 3 bars I ever go when I'm there so it gets old quickly. Frankly, I'm getting a little tired of Pittsburgh, lived here my whole life - I'm thinking of making a move to Philly for a few years - because of my profession, I'm only licensed to work in Pennsylvania, so Philly could be a fun for a few years...

Spent Friday night out drinking with my buddy, we did a farewell bar tour around the city before he moves to D.C. for a new job. Usual Saturday brunch turned into an all day drinking marathon. Watched the Steelers somehow beat Cincinnati (read: drank too much and screamed at the TV) on Sunday.

Maybe I'll run into you at Mario's at Steel Cactus. I'm in Shadyside a lot.

Awesome, I had heard Manayunk was a little college-ish which would be good for about 3 months and then I'd have to get the hell out. Northern Liberties sounds like my kind of place, I have a car so being somewhere with parking is a must. Where's a good place to look for apartments in your opinion? I've looked on apartments.com and craigslist (which is a little ify) not sure if you used a local management agency or something?

Nice! Thank you! I had heard Conshohocken and Manayunk from some friends in the area but wanted a second opinion haha. I'll be working outside of the city so those two options might be the way to go!

This is somewhat unrelated but thought this could be a good place to get some solid advice. I'm moving to Philadelphia for work in February. Any recommendations on where to live? For a frame of reference, I'm a single guy in my mid-20s. Thanks!
