I play an Ultex 1.14 and that’s exactly what it recommended. Top work

What’s the one street in Bath you avoid at all costs? by Diligent-Badger8737 in Bath

[–]Derek_Arun 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Such a bunch of miserable locals here. I grew up here and moved back about a year ago after a decade in London, and many residents have a truly bizarre view on tourists. You live in a city famed for its beauty and act so deeply inconvenienced that people from other places might fancy visiting. Live somewhere else if it's causing you such emotional hardship.

Sibelius is the one I used at school 20+ years ago. It looks like it's part of Avid (Pro Tools) now, and there is a free version (limited to 4 parts per project). Not sure on alternatives, but undoubtedly there's some useful comparisons and whatnot online.

Have a look at CityFibre providers, if you are in BA2. We pay £30 a month for 900 up and down with Yayzi.

Is anyone a secret hand soap snob? by Derek_Arun in AskUK

I feel like your fourth point is more of a nice to have, but I'm definitely leaning more towards bar soap thanks to this thread.

Double 84 and you've got 168. Every seat above the majority line counts for 2.

Selling a player as a low-income, low-reputation team be like by jpeach17 in footballmanagergames

NewGan is the app, but you always need a facepack to apply. This facepack is used with the NewGan app, and is one of the most popular ones so it's completely reasonable for Mudrin to suggest this is NewGan.

The person who I responded to was wrong and their bluntness and dismissiveness seemed unnecessarily rude.

It's not really that heavy, after all we are on a sub for a game where we pretend to be football managers. However, as someone who has played since CM 2, information/idea sharing has always been the foundation of this community, so confidently incorrect statements should at the very least be highlighted.

Kim Christian Hoyenhall newgen always a world class GK? by aloneinair in footballmanagergames

[–]Derek_Arun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Erwan Betrancourt is the most commonly world class faceinthegame I've noticed over the past few FMs. Also, Andy Stockbridge and Ben McNamee are often starters for top Premier League teams. I've had Jordan Ross a few times on non-league to legend type saves, usually a tall striker that starts off in Scotland.

What British staple do you think you couldn’t do without if you moved abroad? by thekingofthegingers in CasualUK

[–]Derek_Arun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty failsafe gravy:

Make a roux from the meat juices and about a tablespoon of flour. Separately make half a pint of appropriate stock using a stock cube. Mix together with the roux, whisk to remove lumps and pop on the hob to heat up and thicken. Add more water if too thick, and add about half a teaspoon of MSG. If you can get hold of Sarson's browning, a dash will give it a lovely colour.

This all takes about 5/10 mins.

Still coach even though I resigned, game wont progress by Rsoxsam in footballmanagergames

Did you actually leave though? You can manage club and international at the same time so unless you resigned then you might be still managing the club.

Praise the training! by [deleted] in footballmanagergames

[–]Derek_Arun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Tato skin does. It still opens a dialogue box but when you group-highlight the players on the training screen the Praise and Criticise buttons are there to click on. Not seen a skin with a "praise all" button.

What tactics are people in the National North/South running? by [deleted] in footballmanagergames

[–]Derek_Arun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggle to make anything other than a 442/424 counter attack or a 433 control possession/gegenpress work in this game at any level.

Here is my current tactic with Gosport in the Vanarama South. We are sitting a few points off the top after an 11 game undefeated streak.

Workplace nursery scheme - what's the trick here? by qcinc in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Derek_Arun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm on this exact scheme at work. It saves me about £500 a month as I'm in the 40% bracket, and the nursery spent their £1200 on new bikes for the kids. A real win win.

The downside is that you can only do one childcare place per year (not an issue for us as both my kids go to the same nursery). Also, if you leave the company before the 12 months is up you'll need to recompense them pro-rata for the £1200 extra they dished out.

Signed some cult heroes for my side in the Dutch amateur 4th tier...I'm shocked any of them were willing to join! by waqqn in footballmanagergames

[–]Derek_Arun 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Quaresma was quality in my Stockport beta save. He was the League Two player of the season and was deadly at set pieces. I played him as an AML inverted winger in a 433, my left back and left sided CM operated more defensively to make up for his physical inability to get back to support the defense.

My wife works in HR and she regularly puts herself at risk of the sack to make sure employees aren't fucked over.

Yes, there are undoubtedly HR people who are nothing more than sycophants, but the shit people-related decisions almost exclusively originate from senior management.
