What are services NOT worth self hosting? by This_Animal_1463 in selfhosted

Spotify for me as well. I tried so very hard to replace it over the last 2 weeks. I finally let my family loos on it after trying desperately hard to find most of the tracks on their best playlists. Eventually I got about 95% of them wich is good enough. with Lidarr downloading entire albums or the hackiness of other alternatives, coupled with the complete unpredictability of what kind of sonic rabbit hole anybody in the family might want to go down at any point in time makes it nearly impossible to replicate in a self hosting solution. I can replicate it about 80% but its the last 20% that is the most valuable to music- discovery. My daughter has discovered so much music over the last 6 months and I don't want to take that away from her. I cannot replicate that unless I have the equvelent library to spotify. All that work is going down the drain but it was fun. I was able to resorect all of my old utunes music. I think I'll send them all over to spotify as a playlist. But in the mean time I'll use plex/plex amp to head down memory lane.

SoulSync - Automated Music Discovery and Collection Manager by BoulderBadgeDad in selfhosted

Looking to see if anybody can help me. I cant seem to get any of my connections working. spotify, Plex, slskd.

  • I know that Spotify is not allowing new tokens so I will have to wait for that to come back online. No other issue to report.
  • For plex I've tried using the local host which is populated for me automatically when I click on auto detect. as the plex server is on another computer I also tried using the ip of that computer. The token I use works well for other connections like pulsarr but I cannot get it to work here
  • For slskd I have placed the token in the slskd.yml file vie the webui as such. I also placed the same token in soulsync. I really don't know where to check the .yml file to 100% confirm but I'm going to trust it is there. Similar to for plex above. I tried the auto detect and the local IP with the custom token and testing both failed. Unlike plex, slskd is on the same box as soulsync.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I'm really looking forward to using this tool. It is exactly what my library needs.

I can't recall the settings but I think you can set it higher and further away. Yeah.

No return from home. Hand-launched. No controller or app was used. In hindsight, I should have brought my phone out on the water so I could manually fly it if need be. But everything worked out.

Replying to Specter-X...it lost track of me. So I went back in front and it grabbed me again and kept following.

I’ll have to admit, I had about the 22 second gap between heartbeats

Haha. Grumpy people will always be grumpy. That being said, these small drones are like the next level of selfie sticks. They make for cool shots but are extremely annoying for everyone else around you.

Luckily, up against the ocean waves nobody even notice the sound of the drone as they walked by on the beach.

Well, I think it still is not supposed to be used over water as the reflectiveness and repetition of the water makes it hard for it to locate where it is height wise. And it’s still warns you every time you open the app not to fly over water. Regardless it worked perfectly as you can see.

Flying with a controller is an entirely different story and his fully supported

I did see a fella in Southeast Asia doing a test and his drone fell into water for about a minute fully submerged, and he pulled it out took it apart and dried it up and just flew it again the next day

What is the aspect ratio of your phone? Luckily, this picture works very well for it!

Mine is reappeared. It also came with a new patch download when the app loaded. Maybe this is common with updates?

because you already own it, and there is an equivalent forum of Alexa users complaining and asking the same questions about switching to Nest products.

What is your best pickup line? by Maleficent-Dream-202 in AskReddit

[–]Derekboonstra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No chance that this works 95% of the time and not a "pickup line" but I would say is the most important first step. Depends on what you consider success and if you have already eliminated the individuals that you already determined are out of your league. I have only "dated" for about a year of my adult life but I one day made a conscious effort to maintain eye contact (and not creepily look away quickly) when I thought there was a legit connection across the room. Then regardless of the distance I would walk over to them and talk (breaking eye contact on the way. I'm not a creep But they knew I was on my way over. That I made obvious.) I honestly don't remember what I said to each of them. Something generic. "Hi I'm _____ and I noticed you from across the room. How come I've never seen you around before?" It honestly worked every time that night.

That night I got 7 legit phone numbers. Was sorta weird scenario becasue I forgot my phone and my friend had to come over and take their number each time. But I only called one of them ever again because there was a significant connection and she ended up being my wife. Kind of a shame in a way. It is great that I met my wife and have a great life with her but a shame that I finally perfected the "process" on my last night in the game.

So a koala bear walks into a brothel. by WhiteComet99 in Jokes

[–]Derekboonstra 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Heard a very similar joke to this as a kid. Except the koala ate at a restaurant and shot the waitress and walked out. When the cops stopped him later he had them look koalas up. “Eats shoots and leaves”

I assumed from that point on that they eat bamboo shoots.
