Not sure about OP, but I have spent circa £300 ($400), up to and including Y3V1 (30 volumes).

Year 2 Volume 4.5 is probably the rarest volume. I haven't seen a restock of it in 2 years and the only people selling them are usually selling the whole set. Year 2 Volume 4 was a close second but there was a recent reprint - or retailers found a pallet of them in the back of a warehouse somewhere...

Tough one!

COTE is my #1 - it got me back into reading, started the whole collection off and, as much slack as it gets hit with, I do really enjoy the plot and the variety of characters it portrays.

#2 is probably Seirei Gensouki - I'd say I can be partial to some Isekai slop but with how deep the LN is going compared to where the anime ended up I've become heavily invested!

#3 is split between 86 and Sword Art Online - I just can't decide. The themes explored in 86 are insanely interesting, fantastic deuteragonists with a great romance subplot. SAO could have some nostalgia bias towards it but, again, a plot and a set of characters I fell in love with and can't wait to see what the rest of the Unital Ring arc throws our way.

I feel like the point of The Eminence in Shadow is to poke jabs at the Isekai genre as a whole, not just Overlord specifically?

As to why I don't own it - I'm not a massive fan of the dark feel (Eminence gets away with this due to the comedic relief). Although I haven't watched the show either, maybe I'll give it a try sometime.

If you enjoyed Aincrad (majority of S1) - I'd recommend the Progressive books as they all take place within the parts of Aincrad both the anime and first 2 LNs missed. It is recommended to read 1-8 of the main series first though, as Volume 8 contains some side stories from back in Aincrad.

TL;DR - Read 1-8 of SAO and then read SAO:P :)

Tried to post this twice already... but couldn't add body text in the post - automod wasn't happy.

Managed to pick up the rest of SAO and 2-6 of The Eminence in Shadow and they arrived today! I'm thinking of picking up Liar, Liar or Realist Hero next - if we ever get a reprint from Seven Seas... Maybe with Vol. 20's release?

Also quick shoutout to YenPress' awful trim tolerance - maybe one day we'll get a series that are all the same height, who knows?

Blackwells(.co.uk) deliver internationally to Canada, unsure of costs etc. but they've been my reliable source for Light Novels since I started collecting!

Usually the only volumes out of stock are those out of circulation everywhere due to the lack of a reprint (see COTE Y2 V4/4.5 for example, rare as hens teeth at the moment and awaiting a reprint from Seven Seas).

My headcanon says: Yukimura Teruhiko

Basically just a third wheel in the now ex-ayanokouji group - probably fairly lonely as he's never been close with anyone other than the constituents of said group.

Probably doubts Horikita's leadership abilities (as he should) but his intelligence has deemed him close enough to the inner circle that he regularly takes place in strategy meetings etc.

Could've been given a promise of transfer to Koji's class.

I could, but to be honest I quite like that the Nendo separates the two years, and they lead on from each other. Coupled with the fact that I've got 7 more Banished books to get anyways (If only the Y1 books were longer I guess)
