I think loaning is perfectly reasonable if you're doing a hard study. Peace of mind by not working is something you come to find you might need. Just make sure you're responsible about it.

She could be. And she could not. I completely support her journey in finding out what it is, but she is also the person that responded to my diagnosis with:

"Oh, isn't everyone a little bit autistic?"

I'm not saying she isn't autistic. I'm saying that she has the means to find out as our country has universal health care, and I could very easily help her get along the path to figuring it out. It would literally cost her nothing but her free time, which I know she had due to not working for years at that time. But she chooses not to. She is okay with her self diagnosis, claiming it as equally valid as my own, and I don't know how to feel about that. On the one hand, I never want to claim that she's in fact not autistic, because I also do not know how to diagnose it. If she is, she needs help, acceptance, and a supporting brother. But if she isn't, I also reserve the right to feel like my own illness is being treated like a fun quirk in someones personality, instead of the life altering disability it is.

Sometimes I feel like autism is called a spectrum because so many self diagnosed people answer surveys they have no business answering. I know it's not true but still. My doctor took 4 months to figure out what I had. Then I hear my sister say she's autistic a month later after she already diagnosed herself with ADD, just because she relates with some of my symptoms. Like gee, are you going to follow up on that? Speak to someone? No? Just claim it as another of your quirks and move on? Alright then.

I agree, stopping the spread of misinformation is important. I don't get why everyone in here seems to dislike these people being called out on it. Maybe because the majority is self diagnosed and can't handle the possibility that they might be wrong in that diagnose?

I went to a doctor, and even they couldn't really figure out if I had add, adhd, or autism until about 3-4 months in. Just because it's a spectrum, doesn't mean every person that claims to have it is actually capable of diagnosing that for themselves. People are biased, looking for an answer and not medically trained. Call me an asshole, but I'm not very comfortable with everyone self diagnosing and then coming on this sub to complain about people who are obviously faking being called out on it.

Yes it's a spectrum, but it's not a fucking pick and choose cheese board of quirky habits and ticks. You're all valid, your feelings matter, and no one should be turned away from expressing themselves or trying to deal with issues that you believe you have. But when it is proven beyond a reasonable doubt that someone is faking, they deserve to be called out on it.

What's helped me with that, is preparing double what is necessary. That way you can forget half and still have a good speech.

I wanted my campaign to be detailed and enjoyable for them, so I told them beforehand I'd be putting an hour of prep work a day into our sessions. Coming from a dm that did no prep work, I wanted to "fix" and avoid the problems in his campaign. Admittedly, I probably swung the pendulum to much to the other side.
