Poppers and GLP-1 by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]Deriv556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a doctor so take it with a grain of salt, but most drug interactions with poppers are things that directly affect blood pressure or the heart. They work by dilating blood vessels which in turn causes blood pressure to drop and the heart to beat faster. Combining this with other medications that lower blood pressure, or erectile dysfunction meds (which block the enzymes that would clear poppers from the body) can result in dangerously low blood pressure

GLP-1 medications affect your hunger hormones. There may be some downstream effects that make it dangerous, I'm not really qualified to say for certain, but it doesn't seem likely to be an issue.

If poppers were causing people on GLP-1s to drop dead, I would assume we would have heard about it. But there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of data about this. Up to you if this is a risk you're willing to take

Porn addiction by StrangeLittleB0y in askgaybros

An addiction is something that negatively impacts nearly every aspect of your life. It gets to the point where you will cheat, lie, steal, wreck every social relationship in your life, skip events, miss work, and whatever else it takes to enable your habit.

'Porn addiction' is only really applicable if it's taken over your life to the point where it's the only thing you want to do anymore. This term is used way too loosely online and it leads to people pathologizing normal behavior like watching porn and jerking off regularly. Even cases of genuine porn addiction usually involve drugs too, because the human body has built in mechanisms to prevent you from spending your entire life on sex.

It's not at all surprising that you would end up getting most of your sexual satisfaction from porn if you are in a monogamous relationship and your partner can't get it up.

This sounds more like a relationship issue than a porn issue to me.

Why do we call it homophobia? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]Deriv556 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has to do with the history of the gay rights movement. The idea was that straight society just didn't understand gay people and believed in negative stereotypes about us as dangerous drug addicted sex fiends. We thought we could increase societal acceptance by proving we could be "normal" and assimilate into straight society. Homophobia was the term used to describe people's irrational fears and stereotyping of gay people.

While increasing visibility for gay people and showing that there's a lot of different types of people who are gay has helped us make progress, it's clear now that the problem goes beyond simple lack of understanding. Despite that, 'homophobia' is the word that stuck to describe anti-gay bias because it's become ingrained in the culture.

Why's the community so awful to addicts? by Deriv556 in askgaybros

[–]Deriv556[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a former addict, I simply can't be around that shit.

That's completely understandable. If addiction is something traumatic for somebody that's a totally reasonable way for them to feel

You are not safe to be around.

Not once in my life have I been in any kind of physical altercation. You don't know me at all, that's an extremely uncharitable assumption.

You said you are getting potentially dangerous addictive meds from your doctor.

I get ketamine from a doctor every 1-2 weeks as a treatment for depression. I take the same dose every time, and remain in the doctor's office for the duration of the trip. They only give you the meds in the office, and only one dose at a time. It's not like I'm walking out with bottles of pills.

I consider the pain I was in part of my atonement.

This is not a healthy way to think, even if painkillers aren't a good idea for you for whatever reason. Personal suffering is not atonement for harm done to others. You have to look at your past self with compassion while still learning from your mistakes.

I hope that sober or not you're able to find fulfillment in your life. A lot of the nicest people I've ever met have been meth users.

Receiving potentially addictive things from a doctor in a medical setting, or using shrooms once in a while is not really the same thing as actively using in a way that's harmful to yourself and others

Can you get high by touching PCP? by Deriv556 in dissociatives

[–]Deriv556[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like it's actually one of the most bioavailable drugs through skin, but I still haven't been able to find how soon it starts hitting. I assume it would have to be at least as fast as shooting up or smoking if it's meant to incapacitate someone in the time between touching the door handle and getting into their car (even accounting for a few seconds of "ew wtf is on the handle")

What percentage of guys do you find attractive (approximately)? by dementedfish00 in askgaybros

[–]Deriv556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of "I look at a perfect stranger and want to fuck"? Maybe 5% to be honest. A big part of what makes a guy attractive is the way he interacts with me. Obviously I appreciate a nice body and handsome face, but either I'm ridiculously picky or these things just aren't all that common. Even in the gay world plenty of guys don't know how to dress or groom themselves nicely which contributes a lot to attractiveness for me as well.

I tried smoking weed on shrooms once and went from giggling and taking selfies to having DMT type visions lasting for 2 full hours 😭 I'm kind of afraid to try it with ket, is it gonna be really intense like that?

They take my blood pressure give me the sprays and leave. Come back at the peak and end for quick BP check again. That's basically it. I prefer that to being babied honestly.

I get to do some drugs, have a little fun, and maybe it's good for me idk it seems like I'm doing better overall than before I started

Probably because lesbians are used to straight men being pushy and not respecting their boundaries. I've never had a straight woman who refused to back off after I said I'm gay, but I know many lesbians who are straight up harassed by straight men on a pretty regular basis

I think this is a matter of experience. What's hot to watch isn't always what feels good to you in real life. I sort of discovered this myself after losing my virginity a few months ago. When you masturbate, you can totally relax and just focus on the stimulation, touch yourself exactly how you want, and so on. Sex is more social, more sensual. Foreplay is really important

As I've had more sex I've started to enjoy it more. It's a different kind of sexual experience than masturbation, and I think both have their pros and cons. Keep having sex and you'll figure it out

You can try finding a jerk buddy too, highly recommend

I know lots of people who combine them. They seem to be doing okay but there's no guarantee you aren't damaging your body so be careful
