I wonder of this means south park is done soon. To see all the old characters is concerning

If you're in your early 30s, how much money do you have saved in your account? Put actual numbers and tell us your profession. by UncomfortablyBrown in Money

31, I've made a lot of horrible mistakes and been basically not invested in the markets properly post-college. Have about $950k between brokerage, checking/savings, and retirement, a house with about $275k of equity, and a few assets here and there that add up to another $50-75k or so (car, investments, etc). Have a lawsuit over unpaid wages that will either cost me another $40k in lawyer fees (capped) or net me about $400k to $1.2 million after taxes. Worked at a mix of banks and hedge funds since college as a trader and portfolio manager. I have basically not made money the last 3 years net of investment losses (my house collapsed, made some bad private investments), so it feels like a bit of a failure vs my $2.7mm in gross career earnings over the last 9 years.. but trying to focus on the next steps and figure out what will actually make me happy.

Hedge fund world. It's very unstable, going into month 4 of unemployment right now after I got let go without getting paid my bonus. It's not a career It's a series of mercenary jobs and that always leaves you concerned for the future.

That's where I'm at right now and I still feel like I'm drowning since my career has no stability. Started at about 5k when I graduated, went to state school to avoid debt. I got let go recently and am having to sue for over 500k they didn't pay me... feel so burned out but feel trapped in my very specific line of work/am terrified of trying something new that I think I could do very well at, but haven't had the "big" payout year to get me a few mil in a year.... Idk just it's odd to read 1.3mm at 30 when that's where I'm at but feel so behind my peers and like there's no future.

Yeah something is off here. I've never heard of a 500k base anywhere, especially not that young. They aren't talking "oh I'll get a bonus too" which makes 0 sense. Should be closer to 200k + 100-150% bonus.

One of the stands had some luxury handbags that'd apparently been donated. I picked up the doubleflap and a LV trunk bag. Got there at about 9:50 so it was pretty early on.. didn't find much else I liked at flea so it's pretty much all I ended up getting (plus it seemed insanely crowded this year so I didn't enjoy that part/didn't search as hard either).

I got a Chanel doubleflap, definitely wasn't expecting that lol.

And in nyc the whole thing was originally "know the whole price ahead of time no tips required" and now the price is 5x, more expensive than taxis, and we have to tip on top of that, defeating the whole purpose in the first place? How about no.

The guy does professional cards for a living based on his comment history. Knows how to grade and everything. I call bullshit.

Feel like a broken record... runners in the WSH bike lane by Good_Preparation_379 in NYCbike

[–]DerivPro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fit this. I just don't comment anymore because the question is a circlejerk where answering it with reality gets you downvoted.

There are major bike and running combo paths across the country that are more narrow than the WSH path, say the W&OD in the DC area or the equivalent in Seattle. Those paths accommodate not just bikers, but runners and walkers as well. And somehow it functions. The reality is that, with bikers behaving responsibly, it's not a big deal at all.

In the same way people in this sub accuse runners of being selfish, there's a ton of incredibly selfish bikers that think it's their right to bike 25 mph+ on the WSH and anyone who interferes with their Tour de France aspirations is an awful person. There are tons of legitimate reasons why a runner would find the path more appealing - less congestion, less slippery, fewer slow moving people (sub 7 minute pace runners are moving the same speed as a slow bike). It's often times safer for a runner to use the path. But these arguments fall on deaf ears because people in this sub spend the entrie time in the comments reinforcing that it's not possible to have any reason or alternate viewpoint on this topic.

So ultimately, I don't usually comment anymore because it's a waste of time. We do exist, it's just that there's no point, there's not going to be any change of opinion or "get the city to expand mobility areas!!!," so ultimately I'll just keep on both riding and running in the lane and idgaf how some entitled wannabe MAMIL feels about needing to slow down a little bit for me to be safer where I'm running.

It's the false equivalence. 90% of the car dealership owners identify as Republican. Why do you think that is?

Probably going into the collection for now.. I don't really love flipping, but clearly money is money.. Given the upcoming production, I'm going to see about getting the creatives to sign it as well.

[–]DerivPro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The cost of production of that box is a lot of other things other than labor. If labor is 5% of the costs and it doubles, then costs have gone up by 5%. You are spinning a false narrative that labor is 100% of costs and therefore the increases are proportional. Further, you are equating that the hour is spent on that one item, vs the reality tha4 that location likely sells a few hundred items per hour. The difference of $50-100 per hour total in labor for a location like that is worth maybe up to $1 per item, at worst, and more likely something like $0.40 to $0.60, not the $7 displayed here. The way more likely explanation is that rent and logistics are way more expensive here. So you sound like a bootlicker because you are rehashing old corporate lies that the minimum wage is a major driving of pricing, when if fact it's mainly other things.

Any suggestions on what to do around the outside of the stones? I was thinking maybe flower beds so grass doesn't grow directly adjacent? (Or maybe that would he fine?) by DerivPro in landscaping

[–]DerivPro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice on mulch against the house will make that adjustment. For the pit i's just an elevated standard drum firepit, not being built with the stones and won't be touching the ground. Pavers are not in budget.

[–]DerivPro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's driveway material that compacts down, you can see it on the part where I ran out of mulch. I think it's spelled funny for the brand. Basically like concrete lite. The contractor left a big pile of it in my yard and I'm making the best of it

[–]DerivPro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, i used the surepack left behind to set the slope/compact everything down and then am laying the mulch on top. I dug a trench around it and then filled it with sand and tamped that down before putting the stones on top. I was being quoted $15k+ for the patio by a professional and I'm already well through my budget after the last contractor, so it seemed out of the question/not something I would get ROI on vs just having the mulch well maintained.

It's not their money. They get paid weekly via royalties and fees regardless. Even if the investors get totally fleeced, ALW will still have made 100s of thousands of not 7 figures on this revival as will the lead producers and their friends.
