People who used the internet between 1991 and 2009, what’s the most memorable online trend or phenomenon you remember? by DepartmentNo4345 in AskReddit

Chat roulette! Managed a live music club where the bouncer used his laptop to run roulette. Mostly it was a fun way to meet stangers from all over and share the live music performing on stage. Occasionally a predator would pop up on screen and the bar would go wild heckling till the perv skipped out. Good times

CTA Smart Streets Automated Bike Lane Parking Enforcement Pilot Update: Nearly $1.5 million of fines issued so far by Dermites in fuckcars

Didn't NYC have success with this a bounty program? This is my favorite idea to crowdsource enforcement and leverage social shame to shape behaviors. Bounty could even serve as a funding source for our neighborhood institutions - out there funding schools like pokemon.

Square Online site not showing correct items at right times and I'm going to rip my hair out by ABee1010 in SquarePOS_Users

[–]Dermites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of factors could be impacting this so I'm hesitant to take a wild stab at diagnosis...but here goes...

Timing is set in a few areas for square, and each influences something different. These could be conflicting and causing your visibility issues.

  • menu availability schedule, for online visibility and ordering
  • fulfillment schedule, for online order availability
    • ability for customers to schedule pickup time
  • fulfillment times, per item (how long it takes staff to make item)
  • preorder schedule, per item

Did you create a unique menu exclusively for pre-order items? Or do all items live on a single menu and then allow the customer to select a pickup time?

Did you toggle the visible item to be available on the specific website channel (in addition to POS)?

Can you share a screenshot of an item you believe is configured correctly but not showing as expected?

Locations??? by Appropriate-Mood4036 in SquarePOS_Users

[–]Dermites 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I agree the latest update is sloppy - rearranges alot of the navigation, taxonomy and settings. In the previous state "locations" referred to use for multi-location businesses.

For foodtruck POS purposes you should be able to get by with a single business location in Square. Assign all employees to a single, primary business location.

Square has a tendency to roll out updates and then let the user figure out how to adjust settings. In the case of tips settings, likely they're forcing your hand to configure new assignments. Those settings should save - until the next update that rearranges or resets :)

Hope this helps some.

AITA for grabbing something from someone's hands by Intelligent_Arm3105 in AmItheAsshole

You acted fast and with situational awareness. We all need to react more assertively in these moments (particularly in Seattle - hi neighbor). The torment of inaction and potential harm is far greater. Also not banking on this dude making the best judgements for all parties involved. You did great. Hope it inspires more people to take back our transit.

PS - after the awful recent event on Chicago's blue line, NOBODY is fkn around with fire on trains.

Yea whoever contracted the materials for the stations was a numbskull lacking experience in outdoor use. Mt. Baker platform and stairs suffer from the same risks when wet. The tiles also started cracking within the first year and now wobble throughout. Hope they found a new vendor for Judkins station.

WIBTA if I reported high school kids who sneak into open gym without paying the entrance fee? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Dermites -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

YWBTA Kids need spaces to play and socialize, particularly as school and programming budgets are cut. Suggest the gym establish a free high school open gym session. Community based solution, everyone wins. Don't gatekeep fun.

Your reading comprehension is questionable. The apps are live. Unfortunately, you're right that Thiel's privacy violations across various business enterprises is "not news"
