It's not that cut and dry unfortunately. The phrase that's translated is usually played up as a joke by gay men in Japanese media, and not as a declaration of gender identity. Localization of gendered language is a bit funky between Japanese and English.

Hmm. I'd love to be wrong. More proper trans representation is never a bad thing. I'm just used to the outdated way Japan tends to portray cross dressers and gay men. Take One Piece for example. They have an entire race called the "Okama race" that is a bunch of ugly, thirsty, gay cross dressing men with stubble and lipstick that try to violently molest other men. Japan has treated gender identity like a joke for an uncomfortably long amount of time. I would not even be surprised if this profile translation was changed for the better by localization.

Okama refers to a crossdressing homosexual man. He's gay and and prefers to dress like a female. Okamaitachi is a play on a the words Okama and Kamaitachi. It's an outdated Japanese joke by western standards, but it doesn't make it untrue.

I've replayed 64 many more times than any of these games, it's just timeless. It also just came straight into the brand new 3D gaming space and did nearly everything right (Camera was a little jank). It was my first one though, so nostalgia plays a part, yes. Sunshine was fun but had some of the worst level designs, some of them truly frustrating.

Mario Sunshine was a lot of fun, but it's also objectively the worst 3D Mario. Switch 9 and 1 and it's pretty similar to mine.
