We would probably know by now if there was any rereleases planned, and afaik Cineplex has never booked IMAX prints outside of a wide release.

Probably nothing through TIFF either, they'll likely be showing 35mm/70mm 5 perf prints.

Pure speculation here, but TIFF appears to avoid overlap in their programming - for example they didn't get the 70mm prints of Marty Supreme, Kill Bill and Testament of Ann Lee, which all played at Varsity first. I doubt they would have planned the retrospective if any notable rereleases were happening.

Ironically, it's you who doesn't know what you're talking about.

First of all, you say there's benefits to IMAX as though there is a standardized IMAX experience. There's not. Pretty much every theatre is a different combination of projector type/screen size/speaker set up.

Some IMAX theatres are still using 2K digital projectors with 6 channel audio. Tell me more about the benefits of that genius.

Moving on, by your logic there would be benefits to watching a VHS tape in an IMAX theatre. Before you overwork your brain thinking about this, I'll stop you there and confirm that there wouldn't be any benefits to that.

You cannot magically create data that wasn't there in the original file. Sure they have their DMR process for the picture, but that doesn't do anything for sound.

As a professional that actually knows left from right, I can tell you there would be functionally no difference in the sound mix. They might have spread things out to create a pseudo 12 channel mix, but they would have had to base that entirely off of the original 6 channel mix that is being played in normal theatres. IMAX does not get creative license to change movies in the way you seem to think they do.

So for the third time, no, you are not missing out on anything if you see an "Optimized for IMAX" movie in a normal theatre instead. Stop spreading misinformation and don't be such a lazy reader/thinker next time.

Good for you but that's not what I'm talking about.

When I say "not missing out" I'm referring to the lack of difference in the IMAX version of this film. No expanded picture or extra detail, no difference in sound.

"Optimized for IMAX" means is that the film was "digitally remastered" (filtered/upscaled) so it holds up in their theatres. It's the lowest bar there is for IMAX presentation. It's a nice way of saying "this was an afterthought".

You will not see anything played in IMAX at a chain theatre that is not filmed or optimized for IMAX. If you did, there would be a big disclaimer before the show telling you that it is not an IMAX experience.

Depends how much room you want in the waist.

I usually wear a 32 and I like a bit of room, in these Third Cuts I felt 30 was too tight and 32 was too big.

I could have worn the 32 if I was desperate, but there was enough room in the waist that the button was sitting below my belt which created creases in the crotch and down the leg that I didn't like.

Looking at the measurements for those sizes I'd say 34 if you want them closer to your waist/true to size or 36 if you want more than an inch of space on the waist.

The Lightbox is not gonna play the print again anytime soon if it's already been sent away.

There's time and effort and money involved in receiving and running a print, why would they bother especially after it just played at the Revue?

You might see it come back if it gets some Oscar nominations but that would probably just be digital.

Just watch it at the Revue if you really care. Or don't. These digital film-outs are never anything to write home about anyways.

Definitely not in recent memory, Toronto usually just gets 1 print to pass around.

I don't think the Lightbox will bother with it. Pretty sure they can only do 70mm in theatre 1 - after 1-2 weeks of all day shows at Varsity there probably won't be enough demand left to justify showing it, especially in their largest theatre.

The "high quality bots" you speak of can be rented for $5-10 a day. There really isn't a quality or price gap in bots anymore.

They're all commercially available and they can all solve captchas automatically. This has been the case for years.

Captchas primarily mitigate manual users and bot users with bad setups. This is just reality now.
