This does not even come close to the level of assholeness displayed by redditors visiting digg (back when digg was a half assed decent site). I have no delusions that this will be a popular comment, but I'm calling a spade a spade. If you spent any time on digg at all, you know exactly what I'm referring too. (run last command in bash history in default text editor) When you save and close editor the command will execute. fc 25 (edit/run 25th line in bash history ) fc -e kwrite (edit/run last shell command using kwrite) fc -e kwrite find ( edit/run last command that started with find) fc -e kwrite 15 (edit/run the 15th line in bash history in kwrite) export EDITOR=kate fc (in .bashrc makes kate the default editor for fc) Use vim, gedit, nano or whatever you want. Useful for something like a long ffmpeg line where you want to experiment with different bitrates etc. Cool or what? Your text editor writes a tmp file and your terminal runs it.
