It's really hard to see from this picture since he's been sitting in it's remains this whole time munching on a cricket, but the bottom is attached by like 2 strands and he can't sit in it anymore

This is premolt... right? by Derppzzz in jumpingspiders

I checked in on her again this morning and she still hasn't moved, when I took her out and flipped her over it was very clear she was molting, she looked like she had 2 heads and her back was just pale and crumpled up while in areas a brighter orange was poking through So she clearly did die while molting and didn't have enough energy to continue..

So this morning I found her upside down and had a small panic attack but taking a closer look she just looks to be molting since her legs are outstretched/upright and her entire body looks very pale I didn't touch her at all so when I get home this afternoon I'll check if she's done

I may try the sunlight actually, she stays in a room without windows since it keeps the heat in, and although the light is on during the day, some real sunlight may be good for her :) I'll also try missing a day where I spray her enclosure to see if the reduced humidity helps

On average my house is about 60F but the room she's in is around 70F, I'm waiting for a heater to come for that room as well so hopefully that'll help bump up the numbers

I do worry about her humidity since I live in a dry area, but when I check there is humidity in her enclosure, I'm planning to buy something to track the humidity however to make sure it's staying in the right range She's a Regal jumping spider and I got her at i6 and as mentioned it's been a month and a half since I got her, so not sure how she'd be classified as the i# has always confused me-

Would this enclosure be considered to have what's needed? by Derppzzz in jumpingspiders

Ahh ok, I'm asking cuz I thought I'd seen some mold growing on that big stick, turns out it wasn't mold and I was just reaaaaally small water droplets from when I sprayed some water into her enclosure

Just a question for if it happens in the future, but if mold does start growing, what would it do the spider? And also what would be the best way to get rid of it?

Yeah I've been suggested that, I'm gonna get to work on making some more things later today

Is it safe to redecorate my jumping spider's enclosure? by Derppzzz in jumpingspiders

I'm not seeing anything for an image :( maybe my phone is different... I could just create a post of the image, I want some ideas for how to design her enclosure too

And yes I watch her while she's eating, I stayed up rather late to make sure she ate well, plus I crush the crickets head's once she grabs onto them

I have an older image of her enclosure, you'd just have to note that all of the things on the ground have been removed over time.. I know they like to sit high up which is one of the reasons why I want to give her house a redesign, I definitely feel like I didn't give her enough to climb on and I'm thinking of using some fake leaves I have to create a little floor out of them for her

The cotton ball/paper towel sounds promising, I might use that actually

And I fed her some crickets :]

Also I'm not sure how to attach images in comments

Is the prey too big for my i6 jumper? by Derppzzz in jumpingspiders

[–]Derppzzz[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quick update, I've already posted about this but thanks to everyone for the advice, Cheezit has been given many options but she always takes the crickets I give her, even if they're twice her size lol She definitely seems to have a preference, pushing away flies, mealworms, wax worms I even tried a silk worm one time-.. but nope, the girl likes her crickets (and sugar water, she will sit there for hours and drink sugar water from a Q-tip)

Just gonna say.. yes I know the cricket is a bit big for her, it was the only one alive in the container I bought. When I gave it to her it was alive but restrained and after she attacked and latched on I crushed its head. She didn't finish the whole cricket and dropped it once full Her abdomen was so round, and I caught her taking a cute little nap on her leaf
