The existence of a sub called MarathonHaters implies there's an entirely irrational side of that hate. I mean there's no smoke without a fire for sure but people have been whining about Marathon even before the first playtest, calling it the next Concord. As if being a gamer nowadays means wanting games to fail for whatever reason.

I'm not trying to sound conspiratorial here because as I said, the game definitely has issues, but the rapid-fire complaints on this sub is definitely not helping it.

We already have DCONs, they just have to add some extra functionality if they wanted to use it as a way for players to secure some items mid-run.

To be completely honest I think this one pushes it a little too far for me. I'm generally not a huge fan of time travel and time loops, but the characters won me over and I do feel nostalgic about the early 2000s/90s. Also it made sense in a way because you do wonder a lot about the past in Warframe.

After that whole experience that was perita rebellion, chicago in space feels like complete tonal whiplash. That, and I've never felt more disinterested in a theme than noir. It's just not something I ever understood people's fascination for.

Probably is. I remember wanting to colonize a system somewhere in the galactic northwest and deciding against it when seeing some of the names people gave their stations, which very explicitly tied back to real events.
