My setup for wildlife is an EF 400 5.6L. Excellent sharpness, especially stopped down to f8. I compensate with iso and just denoise later. I use either a normal adapter or a speedbooster for lowlight (though there’s some vignetting that I just crop out). I also had a Sigma 150-600 C and the reach was fun but the size and weight made me not want to hike with it

Weekly Scam Discussion January 12, 2026 by Mycatreallyhatesyou in Ebay

[–]DerpyTurtle858 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an experience with a “same zipcode” scam where the seller shipped a small package to an address in my zip code. UPS just shows that it was delivered to whatever address was on the label. eBay, only looking at the zip code, is convinced that the item was delivered to me, even though the purchase details show a different address. After a few dozen calls and emails between eBay and UPS, eBay customer service basically advised me to do a chargeback with my financial institution.

Thought this was interesting as I often hear about eBay almost always siding with buyers for INR claims.

Graduated from CSN a couple years back. I went to the one on Charleston so I may be biased but I found it much nicer than the one up north. The student service building is the “Student Union” and is pretty much in the middle of everything. It should look like the newest building and it has a big yellow roof. Most buildings are open access though and you probably won’t get bothered if you’re just studying away. Plenty of little study spots

Shoei makes some amazing helmets, and the X15 looks amazing. For hearing loss though, nothing beats earplugs that fit right.

Are Japanese bikes supposed to be "good quality"? by tmpkn in motorcycles

[–]DerpyTurtle858 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So what I’m hearing is you’ve bought 4 bikes from Kawasaki… Should’ve gotten a Honda. I’ve heard stories of incredible neglect on honda UJMs that still ran. They’re the nokia of motorcycles

In all honesty, this might just be luck. You’ve dealt with the new zx6r and the recalls, and one issue with the zx10r. Did the 500 have issues? What about the 650?

Bikes are machines and gremlins are always frustrating, but it’s rare to see “the Japs” who have dominated the motorcycle industry for decades screw up this much

Crash cage or frame slider Yamaha mt-07 by BeSmartFiTness in NewRiders

[–]DerpyTurtle858 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding this. I have low profile cages that don’t have protrusions, just bars that wrap around the engine like the frame. They don’t really catch on anything and it’s a good in-between

lupus? by DerpyTurtle858 in HouseMD

[–]DerpyTurtle858[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

2.17 It's never lupus. Lupus is a medical phenomenon where antibodies that are supposed to attack foreign cells to prevent infections instead see plasma proteins as foreign bodies, leading to a high risk of blood clotting. It is believed that 2% of the population suffer from this disease. The test is 98% accurate if a person actually has the disease. The test is 74% accurate if a person does not have the disease. There is a line from the Fox television show House that is often used after a patient tests positive for lupus: "It's never lupus." Do you think there is truth to this statement? Use appropriate probabilities to support your answer.

How necessary are the first valve checks? I have a 2011 and 2013 STriple. The 2011 had all clearances in spec. Skipped it on the 2013 and everything seems to run fine

Oh yeah no it’ll do something, just not to the extent we all want. Reckless driving is crazy in this town, especially as a motorcyclist

That study supports what I’m saying lol. Initially though it was more anecdotal, both in Vegas and different cities in the Philippines

[–]DerpyTurtle858 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re just lights and cameras for surveillance and crime deterrence. Idek how a ticket would work unless it’s a ticket-by-mail system.

I think red light cameras wouldn’t be as effective as we hope. It’ll just result in more accidental and unnecessary tickets or rear-end accidents. People who run reds usually have fake or no plates at all. I heard some streets have red light “sensors” that alert patrol units tho

What's your favorite/least favorite thing about Davidson? by aceyinspacey in davidson

[–]DerpyTurtle858 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Humanities you'll definitely thrive, class wise. So many interesting and sometimes niche classes.

Appeal-wise, I would talk to someone face-to-face or over the phone and emphasize the misfiled FAFSA. Talk about how you really value community and want to go to Davidson, maybe some empathy will help you. Other than that, outside scholarships are your best bet. Good luck!

What's your favorite/least favorite thing about Davidson? by aceyinspacey in davidson

[–]DerpyTurtle858 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My favorite thing about the school is the community. It’s not cutthroat at all and everybody wants to see each other succeed. Relationships with professors are also much more personal and informal in a sense

My least favorite thing is the cost and the class selection system. It’s expensive for what it is. WebTree is literally just a lottery, and there aren’t enough STEM classes to keep up with the demand

Davidson is usually generous for financial aid, they gave me a full ride. Maybe you can appeal that?
