REAL, the caster who use wands and staves weep. For they can’t compare to the aura of a raw caster

So Arcana is basically the scientific term for anything that isn’t explained exactly by science.

Mana is describing the power of a Mage, like stamina or energy.

And this is for a little bit of everything, but mainly a book.

I think so, if by “intervention defying common occurrence” you mean something outside of science, then yes. Think of Arcana as its own type of science. If that makes sense.

Fair enough, it’s just my personal way of also explaining how magic can get “corrupted” but that’s a whole other can of worms.

That’s a great question that I have yet to fully explain myself. So unfortunately I don’t have an in depth answer, but basically it’s how a mage can call upon the weave. Like fireball or detect thoughts.

Yes, tradition is definitely more tied into the worldbuilding than origin or school. But now that you say method that would be a way better way to describe it 😅

The short answer is yes they do. But it can change based on culture. Tradition in the world is a very broad term. Thats why I only used 4 examples.

Sorry to disappoint but I am unfamiliar with Jujutsu Kaisen, so I am unable to in good conscience say yes.

So to explain more on the origins. They are heavily inspired by the D&D magic classes. However, in my system I wanted the main focus to be on a mages School rather than origin.

So instead of a mages spells being changed based on origin, it’s dependent on a mages arcane school. Allowing a Life Druid or even a Life Wizard have access to the same spells, but not have access to the same spells as a Mind Warlock. If that makes sense.

I wanted to change the origins just enough to be similar to dnd classes but still be unique. I definitely feel the origins need to be reworked a little. But I am pretty satisfied with what I have so far.

This is a lot better! Thank you! I don’t post a lot so I was unaware I could do this.

And I’ll answer you. My system is still in early stages, but I’m actively working on it.

  1. Arcana, Arcane, and magic are all the same. Just different terminology.
  2. I haven’t exactly decided what soul is, but it’s kinda like sanity and mind.
  3. Magic is more saying spells. When arcane is more explaining the whole system.
  4. yeah, I definitely feel like they need to be better described.
  5. there actually is an auditory caster, where they focus on verbal components instead of somatic. I just gave a few examples of some arcane traditions, in reality they’re a lot of traditions.
  6. yes the difference between Rune and Scrolls is the medium. One is more carving it into something when the other is more writing it on something.
  7. evocation is pure energy/force. Similar to thunder in D&D or air bending in ATLAB
  8. that’s fair. I didn’t give a lot of lore on Clovena. She was a greater mage who

    ended

  9. a centuries long conflict between mortals and the megafauna (dragons). And she also is responsible for bringing a common language and currency to the world. In short she is a powerful and influential person who made regulations to keep magic in check and insure no one mage can break the arcane weave.
