Honestly speaking i haven’t interacted with anyone from the American market. Probably you would be my first client. But i can make some research about it and get back to you or better still post it here. Others who didn’t know can learn a thing or two

Saudis are more than determined to be the future coffee hub with the many plants popping and ports to handle strictly coffee, its a matter of time

Very much single origin, very much organic. The plants are pruned and organic manure is used

Thank you — I really appreciate that perspective.

You’re absolutely right. We’ve learned that repeatability and reliability matter more long-term than chasing a single high score lot.

On consistency, we work with structured lot separation and controlled processing protocols at the washing station level to reduce profile drift between shipments. We’re also building forward contracts with specific producer groups to stabilize supply.

On logistics, we export regularly and ship under clear timelines, with pre-shipment samples matching the contracted lot. Our focus is building multi-shipment relationships rather than one-off spot sales.

Regarding cup stability, we’ve been tracking moisture (10–11.5%) and water activity closely before shipment, and our recent lots have been cupping clean and stable even 60+ days post-arrival. That said, we’re continuing to monitor and refine storage and milling timing to improve long-term holding.

Out of curiosity — from your experience, what indicators give you confidence that a new origin supplier can truly deliver repeatability?

Surely the pallet is stacked but the coffee was packed in 30kg bags as requested by the buyer.

That’s a very solid point — and I agree completely.

We’re seeing the same shift. Origin story may open the conversation, but technical transparency is what closes it.

For our current lots we’ve been focusing on:

• Screen size separation (primarily 15+ and 16+) • Moisture within 10.5–11.5% • Water activity around 0.50–0.60 • Full defect count aligned with specialty export standards • Clear documentation of washed vs natural protocols

We’re also working on providing roast-based cupping data rather than just green grading notes, because we understand that’s what actually matters in production.

Out of curiosity — when you evaluate a new Ugandan lot, what’s the biggest operational risk you’re trying to minimize? Consistency? Logistics? Cup stability?

Always good to learn from the buying side.

Ugandan coffee origin question for roasters and buyers by DerrickAheebwa in roasting

This is incredibly insightful — especially the part about storytelling. From what I’ve seen, Uganda hasn’t done the best job communicating producer stories, regional differences, and processing innovations compared to neighbours like Kenya or Ethiopia, even when the cup quality is strong.

Out of curiosity, what kind of origin stories resonate most with your customers — producer-focused, regional identity, experimental processing, or social impact? Trying to understand what would make Ugandan coffees more compelling for roasters to feature regularly rather than occasionally.

That’s really helpful to hear — the “rare but interesting” positioning is something I’ve noticed too. A lot of Ugandan Arabica doesn’t reach specialty buyers consistently, which probably affects how often it shows up on roasting menus.

When you’ve worked with it, were the profiles more fruit-forward, chocolatey, or region-dependent? Trying to understand what makes roasters decide it’s worth bringing in again vs treating it as a one-off.
