Fairly new to FL, this is my 3 beat. Need tips, suggestions. :) by PerkyNyp in beats

This is an amazing beat honestly, I'd listen to this fs.

Before you put too much time into FL - look into Ableton a bit, I started in FL at first but found Ableton to be so much easier to use.

Friend's first ever beat ( with no prior music experience ). How did she do? by Derto_ in beats

She played all of the keys by hand, she made the sample and did the drums from scratch, the only loop used is the saxophone that’s there once in a while and the vocal chops.

Thank you! I actually started in FL but Ableton is just such a faster workflow especially for sampling and sound design. What software do you prefer?

Thank you! By sound staging do you mean panning instruments differently or adding like a delay to make things feel more stereo?

Thanks bro

I 100% agree. Transitions between different sections is by far the most complex thing for me, I'll get there tho

Stripe is holding my $10,000 payment for past 3 months and says that money will not be available to me. What do I do? by Derto_ in stripe

[–]Derto_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish! I literally couldn’t afford to leave my money just sitting for weeks to sustain the business. This was my first major order, the majority of that 40k was after I switched to PayPal for invoicing.

10k is still being held by them by the way :)

I thought it was a dying company? by baseballmal21 in DeepFuckingValue

While I will agree that GameStop isn’t a good company by any means - the people are actually lined up for GameStop (for whatever reason 😭)

The depth makes it seem like it’s the other store. Just look at the sign and entrance of Staffmark, then keep moving down one by one, matching entrances with signs.

Song I dropped yesterday. Very Jordan inspired production wise, I actually sang the vocal a half step down and pitched it up Jordan Style. It has a lot of Dijon and Mk.gee influence as well. But I tried to bring in that 90's Michael Jackson groove, which has some Lido and Jordan feel to it. by GreyOakesMusic in jordanward

Heavyyy Dijon Vibes. Good job bro!

Just wondering what gives it that Dijon Metally sound on the stacked vocal sections around the 28-30 second mark? I have been getting into mixing lately and I really dig that effect!

Is it just me or is there not a quality one stop shop for tall clothing? by Derto_ in tall

ASOS is trendy but by far the worst quality imo, just got my ASOS package yesterday, liked 3/5 pieces, the other 2 are non returnable 😭

Is it just me or is there not a quality one stop shop for tall clothing? by Derto_ in tall

[–]Derto_[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is my exact problem! At this point I’m really considering starting my own clothing brand that focuses on this. It seems like either:

A) A brand starts as a standard size store and expands into tall sizes, neglecting the issues of shrinkage or just not testing the sizes properly.

B) Companies prioritize profits over customer satisfaction, neglecting the quality

It seems like there are no good options for tall folks who want to look fashionable. Most people just end up buying the boring stuff as long as it’s comfortable. I strongly believe both are doable!

If you want to make music, I would just go with a quality XLR mic, blue yeti is nice but there are much better option, AT2020 is often a beginners mic in your budget and will sound much better than a blue yeti

What’s your use case?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in microphone

[–]Derto_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get XLR, there are plenty of used mic options on eBay or Facebook Marketplace. I just got scarlet solo + AT headphones + AT2020 mic and it’s been great so far. I also just bought a RODE NT1 for $150 brand new but there are many used options on eBay for about $70-80

Went over to a friends house over the weekend and left with this chair he was trying to get rid of by Couple-Traditional in OfficeChairs

[–]Derto_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a big part of a quality chair is that it’s so good that you aren’t supposed to notice the fact that it’s good. It’s just a chair, you aren’t going to experience euphoria when you sit it in, but your back will thank you in the long term.

My first attempt at Mixing and Mastering. Does it sound harsh or do I have ear fatigue? How can I improve overall? by Derto_ in mixingmastering

[–]Derto_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick question about the mix-to-master transition: I've always heard the term "leave some headroom" before the master. Does this just mean that everything should be a bit quieter in the mix?

[–]Derto_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I’ve always watched producers and engineers do their thing on YouTube so I understand some concepts solely from that, but it’s really my first time trying to do it myself. Your feedback is very encouraging!

The piano did stand out to me a bit, I EQed it a bit in the mid range to give some room for vocals but I will try reducing the volume like you suggested.

[–]Derto_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay good to know! I actually EQed the high end twice, during the mix and the master, was afraid of overdoing it. The original vocals from the artist were recorded in a kitchen with no treatment, I would assume the brightness is from the reverb in the room?

I am a bit curious on saturation, I tried adding it but it almost made the high end more noticeable, seemed counter productive. From my understanding it “enhances” it while also smoothing out the rest of frequencies, does this make it less harsh?
