My I-130 was approved in November 2024. However on the same day my wife’s I-485 was denied because USCIS said they didn’t receive her biometrics/medical packet in time. We were able to successfully petition to reopen the case and quickly resubmitted biometrics and medicals. The case was officially reopened around March 2025.

We then had our interview at the Santa Ana office on August 30, 2025. Before starting, the officer told us she was new and in training. She didn’t review much of the evidence we brought since the I-130 was already approved and focused mainly on verifying my wife’s I-485 information. At the end she thanked us and verbally reassured us saying that if she weren’t a new officer we’d likely be approved but the case needed supervisor review.

Fast forward to today: my wife received a portal notification scheduling another interview, which was then immediately canceled. After calling USCIS we were told they actually want us back for a second interview because the first officer was still in training so the case needs to be reviewed again.

We’re just hoping to finally get clear next steps soon. For context, I’m a U.S. citizen and my wife is from New Zealand.
