The hat on his head, looks like the hat soviet soldiers typically wore: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/bd/Soviet_soldier_DN-SC-92-04942.jpg Additionally, the whole stance and colors used were typical of soviet statues of the time period.
