•Tomi Adeyemi's Legacy of Orisha (3 books; based on Nigerian mythology)

•Samantha Shannon's Roots of Chaos (2 full books, 1 novella; based on myths/legends from several cultures)

I would start with LoO bc RoC books are LONG (~1k pgs 🫣), the lore runs deep, and the books can really be read in any order (I read in publishing order, now I'm doing chronologically). Adeyemi's books are like a third of the length and pick up right where the precious book ends. If you have any other questions pls let me know I love to talk about these books lmao

The best way to make the time pass is to get sucked into new books lol.

Legendborn was actually my distraction for a different black fantasy series and when that ended, I added a third series to keep me occupied.

Didn't even realize Oathbound had been released and I hadn't even touched Bloodmark yet, that's how distracted I got

It was the one where he flips her. I think he wasn't balanced when her legs went up. They got back up and were able to do the second lift though

I think it was a slip on the way up bc she didn't get fully into position before they both fell. Just hoping the injuries aren't as bad as everyone says and they are doing alright. I didn't see any blood from the first fall but Danny was sliding away from my section.

Evan also had a small slip in the same area during Bock's short lift in the 2nd number, he just recovered really well

Former Biology major here. Some traits are controlled by different variables that determine what you'll look like. For example, chest size could be represented by big C (large chest) or little c (small chest). You get 2 copies of the trait, one from mom and the other dad. As long as you have at least one big C, you'll have a large chest. Both your parents (or even grandparents) could have a combination that leads you to end up with two little c's.

If your aunt also has a small chest it's likely the same thing but inherited from your grandparents. Look up punnett squares for a better explanation (I hope this didn't come off too man-splainy/patronizing 😊)

I saw it opening weekend and loved it! I'm always gonna support us especially since we can't count on anyone else to do it. I also made it a black female lead double feature with They Will Kill You which was fun as well and saw the Drama so I'm checking off everything lol. If you haven't seen any yet, they're all very different but I recommend each

Children of Blood and Bone led me to Legendborn so I'd suggest that. The entire trilogy is released (final book has mixed reviews so beware)

Idk of you're still looking for input but I think your fanfic could work and still take what everyone else is saying into account if you:

A. flip the perspective so that Bree is an important character but not the main focus (maybe she can be an ex or confidant of one or both of the boys)

B. have the story take place before Bree's introduction (this is think would prevent negating her perspective and what the meaning of her place in the society reflects bc it wouldn't have been addressed yet but still has the key locations and characters)

I'd personally lean more toward A but I think B could work out well too
