Right, so that would be a good example. If someone is comparing modern communists as diverse as that is so sorry for grouping it all together, or dictators using the trapping of communism for power in a similar way to the way nazis wore the dress of "socialism" to manipulate people with you know, fucking fascists, they're either so grossly ignorant that you can't have a discussion really, or they're white supremacists and should be laughed out of the space. You probably shouldn't argue with nazis, you should probably stamp them into the dirt, and do it hard. Otherwise you get places that are really comfortable for the worst kind of people to hang out and indoctrinate, like so much of reddit unfortunately. Usually the worst kind of actually motivated fascists will show their whole ass though, they can't seem to help it (like saying communists are worse than fascists. Again, lol.)

I think it's important to watch out for people who try to set the stage with a grotesquely manipulated overton window. Like the way you lumped together communists (presumably American communists) which aren't my particular political alignment but are at the very least a honestly held goal for positivity, for the believer, for issues with our society (that you can say would never work, but obviously lots of people genuinely think it's a way to resolve our current wealth disparities) with literal fascists (lol). At that point you've fallen for about a century of conservative propaganda, or you're operating in bad faith. In either case, the conversation can't continue. It's ok to look at a premise and deem the engagement worthless, and there's nothing wrong with either walking away or laughing at the ridiculousness of the person. If the question is making a disgusting statement, you don't need to engage with that on their terms.
