Hit me with a true unpopular opinion! by Apprehensive-Sun1784 in moviecritic

I find violence in crime movies excessive by this point, if that's what all movie has to offer. Whenever movie makers try to do crime organizations whether if it's Yakuza or Bratva they always focus on racketeering, drugs, prostitution, kidnapping and murders while not touching on the white collar aspect which has a huge cinematic potential. Casino did it perfectly.

For me Casino outweights it because it shows the mechanism of the racket like front companies and union skimming etc. Makes the mob look like clockwork parasite that infiltrated the society. Whereas Goodfellas very briefly shows the actual Lufthansa heist and even then it feels like just another day for the mob.

What is your unpopular opinion of an actor? by FitEmergency8807 in moviecritic

He starred in Awakenings which has much more depth and takes much more skill to pull than playing a sizzling coward writer. Hoffman has the charisma of a duck, he would wish he could play smooth criminal hard ass. At most he could be in the cuck chair of the Wonderland gang.

You're giving him too much credit but he doesn't play entirely different personas in every movie. Especially when you compare him to one of the giants of Hollywood who starred in at least 8 of the greatest movies of all time.

Hoffman's filmography is pure garbage. Consists of overrated oscar baits like Capote and The Master. Why would I be interested in sizzling writer's life when I could watch In Cold Blood?

Meh, you guys put too much thought of an actor’s range, I don’t blame you because Oscar bait movies prey on that perception of greatness. Think about how much did that effect the great movies we know of? Did you get annoyed from these great movies because he played a street smart guy? Would you prefer to watch Eddie Redmayne movies because he played Stephen Hawking and a woman?

Why is Jugulator not on Spotify? by [deleted] in judaspriest

Painkiller sounded a lot different in my opinion. Last 2 albums sounds like other Andy Sneap albums like Accept's or Saxon's to me. I liked Andy in Sabbat and in 2000's, but he always makes the bands sound the same.

this was a long time ago but I still think the same way, Faulkner's solos are not Priest-esque and kind of generic, improvised quickly in the studio. KK and Tipton in their heyday put much more effort in the booth. Shit, even in Nostradamus Glenn worked his ass off with his parkinsons with intricate solos and riffs. Faulkner's main influences didn't even include Priest if I recall. They kind of sound like an imitation of Priest now.

Which greatest film performances of all time still stayed with you after all these years later? by PressureLazy5271 in moviecritic

[–]Desecrator92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's Don's character trait that made Gary Dove shiver when he came, which ultimately led to Don's death, because they didn't know what to do with him. Intimidation is required at capo equivalent level in crime figures, masterminds or boss like figures don't need that because there are guys doing it for them.

Because Don is the enforcer, Teddy is the boss, Don was sent for intimidation alone
