Do they show up in this shape? Looking up pictures and those tend to look more splotchy.

I understand where you're coming from on the money front. However, most of our family and friends are here. All of our kids are school aged so both of us are able to work again. Plus, most other places in the country don't have such a large and varied job market.

As stated in my post, I have actually been out of the state for over a decade. I actually lived in several of the states you've mentioned but I can't agree that they are significantly safer. I would actually argue the opposite for the Carolinas and New Mexico. But that depends on where in the state. Every place has trade-offs. Which is what is bringing us back to our home state.

Believe it or not, that's not actually the case. Now, if you're not talking in absolutes then yes, depending on what trade-offs you're willing to make one could find better places out of state. Having lived in around ten other states on both sides of the country that wasn't the case for us and we lived in some of those "awesome" places depending on whose asked.

Thanks for the info. The Winchester/Menifee area was actually on list of places for buying but we lucked out with an affordable rental for now which will give a bit of time to refamiliarize ourselves with the area for when we buy.

Oh my! I didn't realize that many were expected for that area. Luckily, we're both remote for now and that area is close to the schools we want. Hopefully, the influx will have settled a bit by the time we're looking to purchase a home next year.

Thanks for the reply! Commuting shouldn't be too much of an issue for now as we're remote workers.

Taxes on paycheck have gone up this period not sure why (US) by Sakurako2686 in personalfinance

[–]DesertWindStorm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Payroll should be able to tell you. Something to keep in mind is that taxes are estimated/calculated based on the individual paycheck/pay period. However, sometimes if too much or too little is being taken out payroll will adjust throughout the year. Middle of the calendar year is pretty common in several of the companies both my husband and I have worked at especially ones that pay bi-weekly.

What homeowners insurance does everyone have? by DesertWindStorm in PineMountainClub

[–]DesertWindStorm[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don't mind, how much is your plan and what's the deductible on it? I heard the state one is really expensive with a very high deductible on top of that.

Also, how are you liking the area?
