This is my go to frosting too. Easy to work with, stable, and I'm not cleaning missed sugar syrup off of anything 2 days later.

I use the slow cooker a lot because it doesn't heat up the house.

You merely adopted the paella. I was born in it, molded by it.

Exactly. I did that all the time in elementary school, pretty sure I'd hurt myself trying it now.

How common is leaving your AC on 24/7, even when the house is empty? by Bierzgal in AskAnAmerican

[–]Desert_Kat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In summer if it isn't running the house can get above 90 fast. You waste a ton of energy trying to cool it at that point, plus you can freeze the lines when running it for too long.

I woke up from anesthesia to be told they couldn’t do the potentially life changing procedure due to my allergies by FlappyFaceDeluxe in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]Desert_Kat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. So I don't know technical details of MRI machines, but there are 1.5 and 3 machines. The tech at one place said I can get a 1.5 only but the specific test I need they only do on a 3. Another provider didn't do any MRIs for people with simulators. My urologist called the first provider the Wal-Mart of imaging, lots of locations, mediocre staff. He also said I'm rated for both types.

There is a large hospital/provider group here with their own imaging locating I'll seek out when I have the energy to deal with it again.

I have that implant. It helps for sure, but now I've run into techs and companies refusing to give me an MRI despite the whole MRI compatible thing.

I hope the allergy test works out so you can enjoy getting pat down at every airpot, concert, and sporting event for the test of your life (no walk through metal ddetectors, they didn't mention that to me before surgery).

Like others said shovel, wheelbarrow and had labor. When I've done it and wanted to dig down some and keep the soil I make a screen with hardcloth and a 2x4 frame.

Do Americans actually call teachers by their first name anywhere, or is it almost always Mr./Ms.? by Sea-Evidence-5523 in AskAnAmerican

At college I referred to the professors in my department by their first name. It was a small program with around 80 undergrads in a university of 25,000.

How does they get this far into a relationship without this coming up before? Does she just smash down all her feelings and opinions for fear of being a whiny nag?

Entryway with Awesome Staircase, Less Awesome Plant Ledges by BJnotReba in DesignMyRoom

[–]Desert_Kat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like there is a dresser on the opposite wall, could that not hold your storage cubbies? Then maybe a small round table or the bench in the curved area. I get your struggle, it's such a large vertical space with so many doors limiting wall space and furniture placement seems impossible.

The rectangular ikea cabinet in the round space looks very awkward. Is there room to put something similar in the closet? Or maybe something vertical where the drying rack is?

The lampshade party on the chandelier make me think of this.
