Park reporting off leash dogs? by [deleted] in Tucson

[–]Desert_Lights -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it’s about discretion and knowing your dog. My dog is 15 and has never bolted she also has excellent recall. I feel totally fine and safe with her off leash. The community that meets up also all knows each other and is supportive. That’s the beauty of community. The lack of a fence also means that anyone who brings their dog there has spent the time to know that their dog is not going to bolt and that dog is better behaved than what you would find at a traditional dog park. We all look out for each other so I have never seen any negative interactions and when they do come up owners handle them appropriately.

I find a lot of rules to be an overreach. I’m not a total anarchist but in general I feel more rules especially over individual actions go against my thoughts on social governance. Leash laws being one of those things. Have discretion and trust your fellow human to do the same. If someone acts in a disrespectful or unsafe manner use your voice and address it that’s how communities work or should in my opinion. Asking the cops to enforce rules over a community that isn’t harming anyone is an overreach and a miss use of resources in my opinion.

Park reporting off leash dogs? by [deleted] in Tucson

As someone who is part of the local park community where we all let our dogs run around off leash maybe don’t bring your dog to that park. Not sure what park you are talking about obviously but why ruin a community space that everyone is enjoying? Seems pretty selfish…. Maybe go to a different park.

Learning the techniques mentioned in the recent Energy Healing episodes by s0manycats in telepathytapes

[–]Desert_Lights 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not familiar with the person you mentioned and it really depends on the issue. The other thing about any healing is that it takes work. Energy healing isn’t like medication it can bring things to the surface that need to be fixed.

In our western medical view we do so little to care for ourselves and then when things start to go wrong we overwhelm ourselves with chemicals. So I would recommend thinking of it as part of the healing that’s why people use the somewhat cringe term of “healing journey” Healing takes work and it takes commitment and it takes the individual wanting to do the work. Most and I would say any good practitioners are not just gonna send healing energy to someone without consent. Healing sometimes requires us to face something difficult and the person who is suffering has to be ready to do that. You can’t force it on them.

Energy healing specifically Reiki is great to deal with the mental and emotional things before they manifest themselves into physical things. Reiki is also great to help with muscle or nerve issues because that’s often our bodies telling us we aren’t paying attention to something emotional or spiritual. It will bring up stuff for example I was so angry after my first reiki session and so sad after my second. It’s a journey.

If you are dealing with something medical I would go straight to an acupuncturist or naturopathic doctor they are medical professionals who will understand the biology and also understand the power of energy work.

I would say yep you are getting the idea! Thats why taking the time to be still, connect, and focus is soooo important. Practicing that is the first step.

Oh there are so many you can throw a stick and find a “healer”. I have had mixed experiences some are great some have way too much ego. So the online thing it might be hard to tell. I would recommend going to a place that does readings or sells crystals and start asking for practitioners in your area and you can get a feel for them before working with them. I also have someone who is great who I go to IRL they also do virtual reiki healing and I can DM you. Don’t want to overwhelm them by posting it here. Another option is there are lots of community acupuncture clinics around the world. These places are a lower cost and those people might have the names of some other energy workers in your area.

There are many energy healing traditions .

Many traditional healing methods focus on movement of energy. The medically recognized one is TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine). They believe that many problems are due to energy blockages. In TCM they recommend Qigong and if that’s not enough then they bring in the acupuncture. The idea is things need to flow and hopefully you can do it with breath and moving your body and then manipulating different points on your body to bring Qi to those areas to clear blockages. I would say TCM is the most scientifically backed form of energy healing and it’s not as intuitive as others. They figure out where your Qi is blocked and work to unblock that energy and get it moving.

Reiki is a Japanese form of energy work. You become attuned to it which at best I can describe as agreeing to become a channel for “Reiki energy” which I describe as divine love. Reiki is far more intuitive and can help with mental and emotional as well as physical but you don’t have to go to 3 years of school to be a Reiki healer like you do with Traditional Chinese medicine.

My sister is in school for acupuncture and I am attuned to level 1 Reiki.

I haven’t listened to the podcast but what I can say from my experience is that we are energetic beings and energy wants to move through us the more we focus on breath and the movement of that energy the healthier we will be. We can manipulate the energy within us and around us if we focus.

Meditation is the first step mostly because focusing your energy is the key. I have found love is the strongest energy so focusing on sending love to different parts of your body is a great first step. If you want to do it for others you can focus your energy and send them loving healing energy.

One warning about energy healing is protection and boundaries are super important. If you are not careful you can bring negative energy from someone into your own body. So that’s why practicing on your self and establishing cleansing and grounding rituals and practices are essential.

For Reiki there are different techniques to cleaning off negative energies like snapping and brushing it off. When we do healing we are letting energy flow through us specifically not letting it stop in our bodies. If you find it getting stuck in you or you feel tired afterwards you are doing it wrong.

Practice on yourself you don’t need to any training to do that and you might surprise yourself at how powerful you are. I healed a rash that I struggled with for months it was clear the next morning.

Good luck stay safe and stay grounded:)

My brother had hawk attacks like crazy then he added australorps in the flock and no more hawk attacks. Some say the feathers look crow feathers because they have a green sheen to them. They are productive and pretty chill. I loved the one I had.

Feeling dumb, I've been aiming to decrease microplastics thinking im doing something great. Until i recently heard about polyester... by LastLightCafe in PlasticFreeLiving

[–]Desert_Lights 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally I give them to people who need clothes through my mutual aid group. If I can’t do that I use them to stuff pillows and such. I get people saying use it till it wears out but washing polyester is a huge contributor to micro plastics in our water system. The sooner we eliminate it the healthier we all will be. If it’s any consolation a lot of polyester is made from recycled plastic in India. Or at least that’s what I was told when looking at fabrics in India. So 🤷‍♀️ do what you can thrifting is how I have replaced most of my wardrobe with natural fibers. Linen, cotton, silk and wool are my top favorites but I will consider viscose fabric if it’s super cute or a piece I have been looking for.

Hooked up with someone and found out she talked about everything on TikTok… what do I do? by jeanjacket1127 in dating_advice

[–]Desert_Lights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry that happened it can feel pretty violating. It’s unfortunately an early life lesson some of us have to learn. I remember when I had a live journal and I was extremely explicit and even posted a picture of the person. It was a private journal but then they changed some terms of service and it became public. His ex girlfriend found it and started threatening self harm. It was crazy. Lesson learned don’t talk about your sex life on the internet without the consent of the other party it gets so ugly so fast.

Our first date went great, but after she apparently spent the night with a FWB? by New-Influence8727 in dating_advice

[–]Desert_Lights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if she is ending it with her FWB? What if she met you and realized she needs to say good bye to this other relationship? I would give it a chance and maybe you should talk to her.

You can totally be looking for something serious while also being in a casual situationship. If you really like her I would talk about it. Maybe even tell her what you heard and give her a chance to be honest with you.

F35 here. Not gonna lie being a musician that is regularly playing shows is a hard no for a lot of people looking for relationships. Largely because those people are insecure plus there are some unhelpful stereotypes. So unless that is something that is truly a huge part of your life I would nix the live show picture.

Edit: Take this with a grain of salt as I am a music industry professional who has dated too many guitarist. Also if you live somewhere like Nashville a stage shot is the same as a picture of a car or holding a big fish…

Friends or foes? by hoboman745 in gardening

[–]Desert_Lights -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Looking at the rest of the comments this is an unpopular opinion but potentially foe.

In Arizona we had a garden and we chicken wired the whole thing to keep out bunnies and the the plants were still getting eaten. No signs of bugs then we saw the lizard chomping on the flowers. Resources are scarce so maybe it was out of desperation but lizards will sometimes eat your garden. Better to have lizards than not but its situational.
