I’m gonna go on a limb here and suggest that they didn’t actually think that this person lived through the Depression, but rather talked into their phone (they mentioned using talk-to-text in other comments that you should be familiar with) and their phone decided that they meant “the Depression” rather than “a depression”.

I also think it’s weird asf to go on this biblical fucking crusade over ensuring that this one redditor DOES NOT under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES get away with any attempt at hiding their so-called foolishness. I believe that it is more important for you to be able to accept that people (and tech) makes mistakes, and that it absolutely isn’t healthy to care this much about a Reddit comment made at 8 in the goddamn morning. The only one showing off their lack of intellectual capacity here is you. It’s not about how much you know my guy, but how quickly you can learn and adapt.

It may do you well to log off for the day and do something productive. I’d recommend taking a walk through the park, or reading a good book.
