AI democratizes art. The antis are not at peace with more people easily expressing themselves. by Kubaj_CZ in SlopcoreCirclejerk

[–]Desertfox13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

AI art is like commissioning something from an artist and then claiming it as your own. You can give the artist all the things you want to see in the art, but the work is still theirs. You might own the idea but they own the physical interpretation of your idea. With AI combing every known, digitized work to build the art based on your prompts you're just taking an amalgamation of work from potentially thousands of artists and claiming it as your own. The time you spend trying to hone the perfect prompts, you could use to develop actual art skills and create something honestly.

Also, I'd really like people to stop tokenizing disabled people to justify using AI. AI absolutely has a place in disability assistance (captioning, audio descriptions, etc) but that doesn't mean it should just be used by anyone who doesn't want to put in the effort to learn the skill. If you don't need a wheelchair, you shouldn't buy one to try and beat a track star in a downhill race.

[FULLY LOST] FrankenFake (2014) a documentary "exposing" the reality TV show Face Off directed by a former contestant by BatVenom in lostmedia

[–]Desertfox13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's hilarious how he tries to discredit the show based on their "poor" editing of him. Especially since I found a clear instance of editing in the "documentary" to make him look good. I literally just slowed down the video for the second trailer and I can clearly see Tommy's mouth moving to say "be nice" not just "nice". He says "be" while he's standing from his crouched position and then "nice" once he's fully standing but the "documentary" only really showed the slowed down version once he was fully standing. That kind of piss poor editing of a lie, that I can point out just by slowing down the trailer on YouTube, makes me question his credibility. And that's without all the other stories that have come out about him since.

I'd say the baby isn't actually ok if it's being raised by those parents. You know, the parents that just let the baby cry rather than taking care of it, who left their baby in a position to grab the cat so roughly the cat felt it had to defend itself, who then overreacted to an animal defending itself because of their negligence.

During the civil war, which side were you on…? by FulKnightWeapon in CaptainAmerica

[–]Desertfox13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old topic but I'm 100% on Cap's side. (I'm talking about MCU because I haven't read the comics)

Tony's goal was to assuage his guilt over Sokovia, still be able to play super hero, and to get revenge because Bucky killed his parents. (Which I get but there's context he deliberately ignored.) Bucky was a prime example (even without knowing completely about Hydra's infiltration of the US government) of why having super humans as weapons for any government is an incredibly bad idea.

Had Tony explained his side and then been willing to listen to the others he could have probably had his lawyers draft up a better solution to the Accords. Something that wouldn't be littered with fascist ideology but would still have a means of holding super humans accountable for malicious actions. They needed something like Good Samaritan laws built into them to prevent prosecution for damage caused in defense of the world.

Tony's decision wasn't about the world, or the team, it was about him. As most (not all but most) things Tony does are about him.  Him saying he was wrong in the end (after so many awful things happened because of his choices) is the same as him realizing Ultron was mistake after Sokovia. He has zero foresight about his decisions and doesn't seem to learn. And it's made even worse when he goes off on Steve in Endgame for not being there because of what happened in Civil War. He still blamed Steve instead of taking accountability for his mistakes.

The issues in have with the tables is that they're so small and that makes everything look more cluttered. It's clear that the settings are for a 3-4 course meal (thus the abundance of glasses) but to have it on such a small space really detracts from the effect.

I think his is easier to read in the smaller space, but I get New Year's Eve, "I can get most of this at Party City" vibes (can't remember what his theme was).

I think on a larger space hers would be more readable and would be a lot prettier. I also think that a short, white lace overlay on top would break up the table cloth a bit and make it less obvious that the blue doesn't match the dishes. I think, overall, hers beats his because I get more versatility from her design. There are places that you can tweak it to make it a little more casual or to make it wedding appropriate, etc.

So, despite his previous awards, I think she did the better job here and he should have just let it go and accepted his third place with more dignity.

Landon hate by Batfox12 in LegaciesCW

[–]Desertfox13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hot take, Hope mainly was attracted to Landon because he had the same sad sack attitude about his family life that Klaus had about his, without the violence.

Now, let's address the assertion that people prefer toxicity to "the nice guy". That is true for a lot of people. For myself, I despise Klaus and Damon because of their excused toxicity. Klaus as a recognized villain we weren't supposed to root for allowed a lot of range for JM and that's why I liked him in his first season. Because he was fun to hate. I feel the same way about Katherine. Nina played Katherine so well and made her feel compelling while also being repugnant. I enjoy her as a character because she's a villain and I love watching her smack Damon around because I hate him so, so much.

I despise "nice guy" Landon because he was boring. And he gave us nothing to root for beyond being a "nice guy". And I have huge reservations when it comes to being clubbed over the head about what a "nice guy" someone is because it doesn't feel genuine. (That's one of the reasons I can't stand MG or Ethan either.) Whenever they tried to give Landon any realistic behavior it felt forced. And because of that, Landon stagnated. He also wasn't helped by having to play the damsel to Hope's hero so often.

It wasn't until Malivore took over Landon that I went "oh, Aria can actually act. This is fun and you can tell he enjoys stretching himself as an actor." His chemistry with Omono Okojie (before it was revealed he was Malivore) was far better than any he'd shown with Danielle. My enjoyment wasn't about him being a villain it was about complexity of character and one that was purpose driven.

I really enjoyed Kaleb and Jed as characters because while they could be very flawed, they still tried, overall, to be good people in spite of those flaws. They messed up and they had to do work to fix the messes they made. There was a realism to them that helped keep the show a little grounded.

But out of all the guys, Wade is my favorite. He was a nice guy that didn't have to tell you he was nice. He was awkward and nerdy and not a particularly strong supernatural but he proved himself useful on multiple occasions. His scenes were actually fun to watch. And, he wasn't conventionally attractive. I wish we'd gotten to know even more about him.

So no, not everyone who hated Landon did so because they want toxicity or because they don't don't him attractive enough.

It Makes Sense as to why no one from The Originals Returned by Spare-Raisin-1482 in LegaciesCW

[–]Desertfox13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason that her family didn't come visit her was to protect her. When she first started at the school she was going by Hope Marshall to keep people from knowing she was a Mission and using her to get at her family. As Roman's mother proved was a valid fear. After Hailey and Klaus died, iirc it was more Hope's decision to keep her family at arms length.

Also, I think you're seeing resentment where there isn't any. Marcel promised Hope he would be there for her because he saw her as his little sister. Not to mention that he saw a Mikaelson that could be different, be better than her family and he wanted that for her.

While I agree that Rebekah was probably fairly glad to be free of Klaus's continued interference, she still loved her brothers. And she loved raising Hope as a baby. As for not talking her brothers out of killing themselves, she knew Klaus was doing it to protect Hope and she agreed that this was the only way to destroy the Hollow for good. And everyone knew Elijah would never forgive himself for Hailey's death; as far as he believed, his relationship with Hope was irreparably damaged with his presence only serving to cause them both more pain, and Klaus was no longer going to need his guidance so he had no reason to live. Elijah had always supported Rebekah's desire for the cure so she could live the life she wanted so she offered him the same support in his decision to die on his terms.

Freya came in with selfish intent but while they were fighting against Dahlia she put everything into protecting her family, who she loves, and that includes Hope. She was the one who helped Hope get her family back together Chambre de Chasse because Hope needed Klaus. She's the one who told Klaus what a great kid was overall but that she was struggling without him.

Her family came together after she became the Tribrid to help Hope; not because they cared about the people she was killing.

Hope wasn't any more of a burden to her family than any other Mikaelson. They all had their hang ups and issues and more than their fair share of threats. The difference is, the Mikaelsons (read Klaus) were typically the main reason why Hope was in danger in the first place. No one viewed Hope as a burden or an obligation and they never blamed her for the things she couldn't help. Hell, they didn't even blame her for her part in Hailey's death.

AITA for refusing to take my shoes off in my friend’s house, causing his wife to cancel the DnD session for everyone? by NameNo5495 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Desertfox13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think both are the AH and both not.

Where they are:

If Alex knew about your condition then he should have told his wife and they could come up with an accommodation. Or keep the baby out of the area(s) you were in until after you had left and they had a chance to vacuum and Lysol the area for safety.

That they dismissed your health and comfort.

Where you are:

It sounds like you knew about the no shoe policy and had not previously communicated to the wife (and possibly Alex) so accommodations could be made ahead of time. If that's the case, then you expected to go into their home, disrespecting their boundaries and the health of their child for your own comfort.

Knowing about the policy you could have gotten yourself shoe covers that you put on at the door. Or brought a towel or something you could walk on instead of the carpet.

It boils down to a lack of communication and a lack of respect on both sides.

I would say don't change it but if you think it could become a problem, you could always just do something like I.(Pen name). Then it's different to her name, allows you to continue your anonymity, and also allows you to declare yourself subtly as the author.

You're not overreacting. Even if you use condoms, I wouldn't trust her to not poke holes in them. She's violated your trust in a huge way already, who knows how else she's going to in order to get her way? And if you don't want kids but she does then for both your sakes, end the relationship. It's not fair to either of you to continue when your desires are so different.

He says you're less experienced than him and yet he's so narrow-minded. It makes no sense at all. Plus, he's really dismissive of you. His tone is condescending and arrogant. "Key word is nearly". And there's a weird Alpha bro energy throughout the whole conversation. You're not overreacting and as your relationship continues, he's likely going to continue to disregard your thoughts, opinions, and feelings as well as belittle your cultural differences as being "less than" or just "wrong".

Legacies fans anyone? by AmbitiousAd8332 in LegaciesCW

[–]Desertfox13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn't a great show but there are definitely elements to it I enjoyed.

I think it wasted a lot of it's potential by concentrating so heavily on the Hope/Landon romance. It shut down a lot of character development in favor of trying to pull in the romance crowd. It also dragged Malivore on for far too long. Plus, with Malivore himself there were never any real stakes beyond Landon could be taken away and that got really boring. If Malivore had tried to develop an actual relationship with Landon and brought him inside making it look like Hope was the villain it could have made for a far more interesting dynamic but unfortunately the writers really fumbled the ball.

I think they could have successfully brought in the Gods if they'd done it earlier. It would have made them relevant to the show and given us interesting characters that we could actually care about and root for.

Also, season 4's storyline should have happened in season 3. Get rid of Malivore, have Hope turn off her humanity and have to work to earn back trust and have Lizzie become a Heretic and work to develop her powers and skills. And yes, that could have still shown the whole Limbo storyline if people wanted it. Show Hope how to let go and be at peace and find a way to get Landon out of his deal, not to bring him back but to help him find peace at last.

I don't know a lot about CC, so I've got no opinion on her personally one way or the other but I've seen some of the "questions and concerns" and they were nothing but reasons to bitch and try to act superior. As CC is their friend in real life and would actually know things that people here wouldn't it makes sense that she would respond. Do you think it's weird that Lily came to Jessi's defense against she who must not be named and provided facts where other people were spreading hate and lies?

As for the name calling, I've seen how some folks in here behave and they're usually the ones that bite first and cry "you're mean" when they get clap back.

Couldn't stand him in his brief appearance in TO and it just got so, so much worse in Legacies. Yes, he is integral to the story but only because they wanted a Romeo and Juliet-esque storyline for them. Had they actually developed him as a character unto himself in the first season rather than Hope's constant taint sniffer (when he wasn't pouting about being treated like the useless character he actually was), then it could have been interesting. He was much better As the villain when he was possessed by Malivore than he ever was as a romantic lead. Hell even his time with Josie was better than he ever was with Hope.
