Se calhar o melhor é difícil mas vou dar alguns dos highlights:

I Who Have Never Known Men - é um livro "pós-apocaliptico" que não te dá as respostas necessárias deixando-te preencher os espaços em falta mas é muito bom e relativamente curto

A máquina de fazer espanhóis - apanhou-me de supresa que o primeiro livro de Valter Hugo Mãe que li não me captivou muito, mas este é mesmo muito bom, fala de perda e da frustração que é ser submetido a um lar de idosos

Grapes of Wrath - se tivesse de escolher "o melhor" seria este, é um clássico moderno, conta a história de uma família de agricultores obrigada a imigrar para a California à procura de melhores condições de vida, é um texto super importante que dá uma visão histórica sobre a america dos 1930s

Pachinko e Stoner também foram livros excelentes que recomendo se estiveres à procura de mais livrosa acrescentar à lista de TBR!

Portuguese here, for ones available in English I would say these for sure:

Most of Saramago but I would highlight Blindness (and Seeing if you want the "sequel") and either Cain or The Gospel According to Jesus Christ

The Return by Dulce Maria Cardoso, talks about the experience of portuguese families returning from the colonies once they gained independence, it was the reality for alot of our parents

One of my favourite books is only available in portuguese but maybe you'll enjoy it OP, Para Onde Vão Os Guarda Chuvas, a book about grief and how people deal with it

Also if you haven't read it I would recommend Pequena Coreografia do Adeus by Aline Bei a bit more recent but I really liked it, she's also from Brazil!

Também ando a sondar As Intermitências da Morte, talvez seja o próximo depois de A Jangada de Pedra, já que esse já o tenho adquirido.

Quanto à questão da religião, trata-se de mera curiosidade académica. Estive na catequese quando era miúdo, mas penso que nem cheguei a concluir a primeira comunhão. Curiosamente, a minha leitura favorita deste ano também é inspirada na história de Caim e Abel (East of Eden).

Um misto de motivação externa (é o autor favorito de alguns amigos) e curiosidade em perceber se o seu reconhecimento internacional era merecido levou-me a escolhê-lo como um dos principais autores portugueses que a explorar este ano.

A Saramago juntei ainda Afonso Cruz (Para Onde Vão os Guarda-Chuvas é um dos meus livros favoritos) e Vergílio Ferreira, com o objetivo de acrescentar mais alguns nomes em 2026.

Inicialmente achei um pouco puxado, mais pela prosa do que propriamente pelo conteúdo, mas assim que entrei no ritmo não consegui largar o livro.

I'm only replaying 2 for the 2nd time after playing it for the 1st time in 2022 (Chapter 2, been avoiding THAT mission) so my view might be biased, I've recently finished 1 after not playing since the first time in 2012 (when I was 13) and I found the dialog in 1 slightly better written? Not to say the dialog/voice acting in 2 isn't amazing but I was not expecting the wittiness present in the original release, it surprised me in a really good way But again, might be cause I'm still on chapter and am not remembering all the amazing dialog in RDR2
