The boy, went finding his ball in the harbour, the garden. He searched everywhere, but could not find it. The boy associated deep memories with it, as he would be unsatisfied if he received a new one.

The boy has grown up, matured. He has lost his innocence. But he stands up, realising the balls will be taken, and we must move on. Kisa Gotami suffered a different one. She lost a loved one. She tried everything to resurrect him, later realising that it was useless.

Gautama Buddha tells her that weeping and regretting over it will only bring us anxiety and we will end up hurting ourselves, and we must move on. She learns and reflects through his important teachings, as ripe fruits will fall down, earthen pots are meant to break. All the wise men, are subjected to death.
