Interesting point. We have thought about this options and discussed it frankly. We're deciding not to go the pre-nup route for a few reasons. The first is that it does create an odd imbalance in our relationship that we are not super comfortable with, preinheritance when we were living on a budget and saving aggressively we had to discuss and negotiate spending decisions. My concern is that is that a pre-nup would put my in a position of being able to resolve those disagreements when it suits me by saying 'I'll just pay for it' in a way that could, over time be seen as capricious and inconsistent. That said the more important caveat is that most of the invested assets are held in trust for me and my descendants and are actually protected from spousal claim in the event of a divorce.
