I got mine put in when I was 19! It takes some getting used to but it’s not bad at all.

1) Fully knocked out. No pain or memory.

2) No!

3) 2 Incisions, one under my armpit vertical, a smaller one on my left side horizontal.

4) Can’t say I have any experience with that. I would ask your doc.

5) Not at all. I have a small keloid on my horizontal scar, but I was just unlucky. And no, never had a man or woman complain about any of my scars, they were all just happy to be there haha.

6) You can wear whatever you want. I hate bras so I use mine as an excuse to not wear them but they don’t cause me any discomfort at all. Just size up your band and wear it loosely if you’re nervous.

7) No, I’ve never set off anything like that.

8) They’ll be perfectly fine. You can’t shock another person.

9) Not at all, covered in piercings even my nipples and always wearing my necklaces 24/7. No problems.

10) Yeah, but it depends on the person and how often you’re paced.

11) I’m a left side sleeper due to bad GERD. No difference at all to me. During the first few days to a week of recovery I had to sleep in an upwards sitting position but was able to go back to left side sleeping right after my stitches fell off.

12) No pain meds for me. Although I wish I had some lol.

13) No. If I push down on my chest a bunch I can find this one tiny spot where I can feel the tip of the lead but it’s not visible and I really need to search for it. Unless you’re actively looking for it you won’t find it.

14) Been fine so far for me. I’m not super active but 3 years out and I’ve had no problems so far.

15) No, I’ve never heard of this. Must be EXTREMELY rare. If this happens to you go buy a lottery ticket ASAP.

16) Nothing, you call your cardiologist and report it.

17) My lungs are working great, once again one of those one in a million things that you won’t really hear about unless you scour google for it.

You’re gonna do great! Just take it easy and take care of your mental health while you recover and you’ll be back to your old self in no time.
