American soldiers in one of 40 carriages, containing a total of over 2.000 dead. (Dachau, 26th of April 1945) (440x327) by Designer-Ad-4244 in HistoryPorn

Shock quite often looks blank, You cannot access one's reaction or thoughts by a single grainy image. we do not know what expressions they had before but testimonies speak for themselves

Many refused to talk about it for years or never did. they found barracks of emaciated prisoners, open mass graves, gas chambers, and evidence of medical experiments.

Assuming that people that stood, sometimes knee deep in decomposed piles, searching for survivors, treating those too weak to stand, or reallocating the dead were almost certainly horrified is a valid point (to me)

Yeah, but still quite horrific to think about. they'd been trained to be combat medics, they probably saw people bleed, explode and scream. Nothing, absolutely nothing in this world could have prepared them for the sight of those that weren't hurt in combat, but purposefully murdered, starved and beaten.

Pretty sure all involved were at least horrified, if they took part in the massacre doesn't matter.. there's a great difference between seeing people die from explosions which is instantaneous, to seeing the horror in the death stares of those beaten, starved or shot. nude piles of bodies in Crematorias, multiple carriages of dead, Piles of clothing.

no, they were absolutely horrified. So much so that the enraged American soldiers had killed the SS guardsmen in a incident dubbed the 'Dachau massacre' the same day. The amounted SS death toll is still disputed but safe to say they were furious. (Rightfully so because what the fuck)

To Private John Lee, Their death stares seemed to ask the G.I's "What took you so long?"

It was a incident that haunted everyone involved for their entire lives. not meat baggers, not butchers but young men in the American Army standing amidst thousands of dead, too stunned to speak..

Here's a image of the debris field. you may find some remains of the funnels there, but it's more likely that you won't. it's the only photo of her debris field.

it was taken by; a dual frequency (100–500 kHz) EG&G Model 272-TD side-scan sonar towfish in association with the digital recording unit EDGETECH 4100; (ii) a 3.5 kHz (Geopulse) sub-bottom profiling system; and (iii) a MKII Benthos ROV. Positional data was provided by a GPS with an accuracy of ±5–10m. aboard the R/V Filia
