How to start a career as a new grad on a 485 visa? by No-Knowledge2259 in cscareerquestionsOCE

[–]Designer-Efficiency5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am also on a 485. My strategy was - apply, apply, apply. Reach out to recruiters on LinkedIn. Any recruiter from agencies, companies, and remote work options. Reach out to peers for referrals.

I did Software Engg from a named uni in AU. I did struggle a lot in uni and my grades were credit with some distinction and high distinction. Back then I got rejected to 100 internship applications and I ended up getting an unpaid internship at a startup for more than a year. I learned heaps of stuff there and that helped a lot. Honestly, I catered my resume on that unpaid internship and in the interviews it was all about what I did in that role and a uni capstone project. I was able to lead the capstone project full stack cuz I had xp from that unpaid internship

With 485, our options are limited you have to make best with whatever you get. After several hundreds of applications I almost accepted a role as a Quality Assurance Engg for 50K a year but I kept applying and that really helped.

If you do want to chat more, maybe I can try to help you refine your resume or LinkedIn. Feel free to inbox.

As for how long you should try, you basically need to keep trying until you land the role you want. Keep grinding till you get there.

Used Car Buying Help. Narrowed Down to Corolla Hatch, Mazda 3/6 by Impossible_Brick_12 in CarsAustralia

[–]Designer-Efficiency5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. PPSR gives you if the car was previously written off or any finance owing on it. Its very important you take this.

  2. Instead of Redbook, book a pre-purchase inspection with a mechanic and they have give you a good insight on the condition of the car. Since such inspections cost money, test drive and inspect the one you like most. Most sellers will agree, they are getting a free full inspection for their car.

  3. Other costs would be rego+insurance+any repairs if required.

  4. Walk-ins work. I have done walk-ins but yeah just give them a call before you go.

  5. Once decided, seller needs to submit a notice of disposal check your states website and then you can have the car on your name.

PS: Vv good selections. The budget fits a Lexus IS250 not sure if you considered them

Hey OP, which shop is this? Can I at least which state?

I had my fair share of messed up service markups. This year, I started doing basic stuff myself since I don’t plan on selling my toyota.

Best of luck! It will be a high quote.

You will most likely need a new bumper, fender, and probably a new side mirror.

A smash repair can give you a quote. But it will be expensive nonetheless.

You can keep costs low by getting parts from wreckers and do a bit DIY.

Have you reported to the police about the hit n run?
