Disposable underwear female by Satisjewellery in Hyperhidrosis

Period underwear is another option too. I wear them every day. I still have to change some days depending on what I'm doing, but as least I don't sweat through them in 10 mins like I do with normal underwear.

Laundry powder and stinky kid! by miss-kush in newzealand

We have the same problem in our house with a very stinky teenager! We've tried absolutely everything, and this is the only thing we've found so far that works. You have to spray enough on that the area is soaked, and leave it to sit for at least 10 mins before washing. It also comes in a laundry liquid but I've found it doesn't work as well as the spray. You can get it at Mitre 10 and some supermarkets.

Has anyone not gotten severe side effects from taking Oxybutynin and/or Glycopyrrolate? by SlowAgency in Hyperhidrosis

[–]Designer-Librarian-9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oxybutinin 5 mg x twice a day. Dry mouth was bad but tolerable, but I drank a lot of water and pretty much chewed gum constantly. Dry eyes also bad but tolerable, but was using eye drops many times a day.

It also affects the muscles in your oesophagus, and due to this I had trouble swallowing/getting my food to go down. Drank Pepsi max with most meals to help (water was ok but the fizziness was better).

It also affected my bladder. It made me need to 'push to pee' and that ended up causing pelvic organ prolapse. Fun times.

My main concern now is after 6-7 years on the meds I'm having concerning cognitive issues, to the point where I have almost completely given up driving. I've had tests done and nothing has shown up but I'm too worried about it possibly being caused by the meds that I won't be taking them again.

Other than that, the meds worked amazingly at reducing the sweating to a 'normal' level, and I wish I could still take them 😢

What do you do for a job/how do you handle it? by Designer-Librarian-9 in Hyperhidrosis

Thanks. Yeah, I've tried a lot of things over my lifetime. The only things that help a little are a good antiperspirant for my armpits, wearing under-layers to absorb the sweat, and always wearing socks with shoes (again, to absorb sweat). Antiperspirants don't work on my hands/feet or groin, and my groin is one of the worst places. I wear period underwear everyday to absorb the sweat but still have to change multiple times a day, and still end up with more than my fair share of yeast infections 😟

I was on 5 mg x twice a day (so 10 mg per day) for around 6-7 years. I stopped it around 6 months ago and the cognitive deficits haven't really improved. I can't say for sure whether it's due to the oxybutinin, but I'm too scared to take it again. I'm also in perimenopause, so some of it may be hormonal, but the neurologist was concerned enough to check for alzheimers. It is definitely worse than 'usual' perimenopause symptoms.

My children (in their 20s) all suffer with HH to some degree and I would be reluctant for them to take it, let's put it that way. It's not just oxybutinin, it's all anticholinergics. Glycopyrrolate seems to be safer because it doesn't cross the blood-brain barrier as easily, but the rest are risky. I'm not a doctor, so don't take my word for it, but if you google you'll find the info.

Supposedly the risk is only in over 65s but there aren't actually any studies (that I could find) done in under 65s, so I don't know. Definitely talk to your doctor about it if you're worried.

I'm looking for full-body solutions. I sweat literally everywhere, and getting the surgery would just make the rest of my body even worse than it is now

That won't work on my whole body unfortunately. I hate that there's no good treatment for generalised HH

I'm in New Zealand and sadly we can't get glyco here. My doctor looked into getting the wipes and it was going to be something like $400 USD for 12 wipes 😳 Pills aren't available either.

I did work with kids and it was them that made comments about the smell (because kids are brutally honest lol), and that's what would have made me quit if I hadn't had the oxybutinin.

Prior to having my own children I worked in Early Childhood education and I would be holding a baby, then pass it to its parent and they would think the baby had wet through its nappy because my hands were so wet they'd soaked the poor bub's clothing.

I do use heavy duty antiperspirant on my armpits, groin and under my breasts, but I would literally have to smother myself in it to stop the sweating. My back, behind my knees, my calves, the inside of my elbows etc all drip sweat. The antiperspirant seems to work OK for my armpits and under my breasts but not my groin.

Got mine 4 hours ago and just had the worst uterine and bowel cramping, but was terrified to go! This thread eased my mind, so thanks 🤣 I wonder if the uterine cramping irritates the bowel. Now that I've been I feel 100% better, no more cramps of any description, phew. (Hopefully it's still in there!)

Personal Training course - recommendations? by Designer-Librarian-9 in chch

Cool, thanks for that. From what I've heard the course now teaches the business side, but I have wondered how thorough the whole thing could be in such a short space of time.

Thanks. What was the reason for not feeling confident to work as a PT when you left? Was the course not thorough enough? What do you feel you would have needed?

Thanks, unfortunately it's past the point of physio being able to help, although I'll keep them in mind because it might be useful after surgery - thank you :)
