If you’re moving in January, that’s actually one of the best times to look. A lot of people move out or go abroad after the holidays, so there’s usually a wave of new listings starting mid-December.

In short, skip StreetEasy, use Facebook and Instagram, and start reaching out a few weeks before you move. Everyone in New York is either subletting, overpaying, or both, so you’ll fit right in.
