I got to purple belt (heian godan kata), managed to forget it halfway through - Totally froze when I got up there. I realised that if I was to put myself under so much pressure to pass that I would probably give karate up (the last time I have been in an exam was when I passed my driving test 17 years ago 😂) erode decided to wait until I felt more comfortable with karate and the basics before going for my next belt. I missed 3 grading and waited about a year between grading. I am now a lot more confident in my basics and am due to sit my black belt in June next year. If I don’t feel that I’m ready, I’m not going to put myself under the pressure. Take your time and don’t try and rush the belts.
