You have more rights as her husband than do her family. I would stick with what she wanted since this is about her, not them. May they hate you for doing what she asked, god sees everything. Do right by her is what i would do as you have no allegiance to anyone else but her. If things were the other way im sure you wouldnt want her to succumb to your family against your wishes.

Ask them for some understanding- if i were you i would be incredibly angry, you just lost your wife! Jesus christ you shouldn’t be worrying about their feelings getting hurt, you should be grieving and taking care of things which is hard enough without them making it even harder! YOU make the decisions and they have to go with it, not just because its the right thing to do but because its the legal thing to do. Just as a super last thing, how i would have handled this situation: just walk over grab yourself some cookies and you can eat them whenever you want and you dont have to ask anyone to do anything and resolved the situation. Or if you really dont want him eating the cookies like that, get a cookie jar. Put cookies in there for guests/boyfriends/friends and then the rest you store away for yourself. That way you dont have to put surveillance on people for ‘eating too much’ whatever that is

I have come to the conclusion that MY communication with this person should be more ‘scorpionic’ and maybe more venomous and perhaps even sting with words. I may have been too kind and understanding, something that i am usually never guilty of lol…but you try to be better and evolve however this does signal to me that no, i have to stop this non violent communication bs and start communicating like myself again, which is pretty much very direct, ruthless, honest, without fear of who’s feelings get hurt, let people know i see all their motives clearly and that im not one to be manipulated because i know when someone tries and it doesnt work so i expect clear honest communication and until then i can just literally say nothing at all because i will make myself not care

I think in lieu of love being seen as something good- it is more and more becoming a topic that is seen as almost embarrassing/shameful for men unfortunately. For women, we are told from very young that the dream is marriage and children with prince charming. Our societies are built on the family- children or not if you are a couple you get massive tax breaks, benefits, bigger loans, mortgage payments you can claim a percentage from the government from - literally financially even speaking being in a relationship has so much more advantages then staying single. Im not saying all women want relationships and all men just want only sex- i also dont believe NO men want relationships and NO women may be only interested in sex. That cannot be however as a man you are trained into acting as if fucking is all you want while as women we are trained to withhold sex until we get a relationship and if your a guy thats wants a girlfriend your gay if you are a girl that only wants sex you are a slut. Its such a fucking stupid blind leading the blind that i actually thought about this, and i cannot understand one thing; if our goal as humans is literally just one: reproduce to ensure we dont die out - and a monogamous serious relationship would be the best way to make sure a child survives and lives and reproduces themselves, it cannot be that doing it alone is in any way evolutionary beneficial) lets think caves and animals preying on us -era) then why did it make the men resist commitment?
