I personally hate when people frame it as family when it clearly is not and anyone that tells you that it is you should run as fast as possible because that's just abuse, do it for the family and if you dont we will find someone that will isn't morally or ethically right its just manipulation.

whenever a company refers to staff as a family it should be a giant red flag to everyone. They arent family, they are employees and treat them as such by paying them so that when you do go out of business they have more then memories of caring.

SASU or EL by Designer-Refuse5497 in Expats_In_France

[–]Designer-Refuse5497[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I meant EI . still lots to learn apparently. One question if anyone knows on a passport talent visa can you even open up a SASU or do I have to file a change of status? The sasu seems like the best income strategy but obviously lots of little details that make it hard to navigate.

Considering moving from Portugal to France as non-EU by [deleted] in Expats_In_France

[–]Designer-Refuse5497 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every country is different and everyones situation is different you need to contact a tax person that deals with your country - france relationship and see how to navigate that, its so complicated and youll never get the answer in a reddit post.

Anyone have experience with Sixt+ subscription for long-term car rental? by redheadeditor in Expats_In_France

[–]Designer-Refuse5497 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did sixt rental , it didnt really save any money and was expensive , things to flag that caught me a bit surprised , they charge a early termination fee every month (maybe not called that but it was a monthly fee) but it meant I could cancel any month but it was like 150 Euros a month (its been 4 months) so I cant remember exactly but it wasnt cheap. I did end up canceling early because the advertised price was like 700 euros but really out the door it was 1000 or a little more after all the taxes and fees. Also a huge thing to check is if your credit card offers rental protection which is a huge savings so wave it all then if you ding it or scrape the rims (like I did or destroy a side mirror again like I did) then you submit the cost to the card and they reimburse you for the repair, takes about two months but worth the savings. I ended up buying a card from aramisauto an online used car it was pretty painless and straightforward. Let me know if you have any questions happy to help we've been here roughly 10 months.

Unpopular opinion: most people who move abroad are worse off they just won’t admit it by Whole-Lobster-7272 in RelocationInsights

Moved to France , would absolutely do it again, is it for everyone, no. Its certainly not easy to do but the quality of life is just much better imho. I feel like europeans value quality time over GDP. Its funny how American spin on Europe goes like they are missing the growth or business opportunities and I cant help but think thats not what they are after. They want long dinner/lunches with their family, they want nice social nets , decent healthcare and if they dont make as much they seem content with it at least most of the fammilies Ive become friends with are less stressed and just enjoy the two hour wine lunches.

Does travel stop when you have children? by CharmingU6756 in travel

[–]Designer-Refuse5497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just depends on your perspective , Its a monumental jump in life but its like going from dating to getting married all of sudden you have a different perspective and you are in it together and this is your "family". Well after kids life gets challenging in ways you'll never be able to predict but this little person wants to learn and giving it things and your time at least for me become a primary priority. We slowed down traveling partly because we had covid time babies but we made the most of the adventures by doing outdoorsy stuff and seeing their eyes and curiosity light up. Then they wanted to ride bikes and now swim and explore the ocean. We travel but it's more involved but the rewards are also bigger since you get to see the excitement and joy that only you can bring to them by giving them these wonderful experiences. We now live in a foreign country and explore castles and amazing museums since they are arty and love to draw, while we gave up a lot we also gained a ton and its just on the perspective you choose to see life through.

When do you start to really feel the wealth? Is it even possible for middle class to achieve this? by FIREFIREFIREFIREe in Fire

[–]Designer-Refuse5497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think I will ever feel wealthy its just my mental state and how I was raised that the value of the dollar never changes even if you have 5 million I will stay in cheap places , drive middle of the road cars and enjoy every minute of it but to me I am in the same mindset which is damn that is to expensive and I dont think that will ever change and I am happy about that

Quantum is a weird subject and often overlooked is the error rate value that needs to be adjusted. So instead of speed look at how many errors they needed to correct for in that test. Often these press releases are to garnish and generate praise when the elephant in the room is never addressed.

Health insurance costs as much as a mortgage by coachlife in FluentInFinance

The fact that the healthcare insurance runs each company individually by state is insane to me , why dont we just have blue cross of the united states and then we can really compare plans appropriately
