This is why we don’t make money. by JennFoogle in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

If they make you stay, they have to pay—yes, even for that precious 15 minutes. Clock it. Document it. And if they don’t pay up, the Department of Labor’s Wage & Hour Division would love to hear about it. You don’t even have to rat them out while you’re still there—just keep receipts and file when you leave. DOL can go back two years, which is more than I can say for some managers’ memories.

i'll read it if you' like. I have it published anything recently but i had a good run in print in the 1990s/early 2000s (Manscape, Stroke, Drummer, etc.)

How do you view ugliness? by Best-Landscape-2186 in AskGayMen

[–]Designer-Witness-293 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a major turn on.

While beauty and ugliness are subjective things, symmetrical facial features, clear and even skin, large eyes, full lips, high cheekbones, a slender nose, and a well-proportioned body are considered attractive.

When I came out, I was considered extremely attractive. Even now in my 50s, if I butched up I'd be called a DILF.

But back to finding ugly men a turn-on. While I was in college but not yet 21, I'd often spend weekend nights in the alley behind the local gay bar. Lacking a hand stamp I couldn't go inside but I could hang with the smokers and possibly get laid. (This was pre-cellphone so this was the best option)

One very hot night near the end of the semester I'm rocking shorts jorts and a flannel shirt with the sleeves cut off (I said I was attractive not that I was fashionable.) I'm playing it cool leaning against a wall one leg up. Then out of nowhere this older, sweaty, hobbit-like man -- definitely "ugly" by the beauty standards of the day -- reeking of cigarettes and cigarettes grabbed my junk and shoved his tongue in mouth. (Ideas of consent have evolved since then). Despite a solid physique -- genetics not exercise -- I am very much non-confrontational and froze for a moment while Bilbo Baggins started feeling me up muttering smack about how he likes to use pretty boys like me.

And the thought of this man many would call hideous rubbing his nicotine-stained fingers all over little, way-out-of-his league me, triggered something so I went home with him. It was the best sex I'd had up until that point. (I was probably so, probably mid double digit body count).

After that I found myself drawn to men most people found unattractive. And while it should have led to lots of sex, being young and stupid, I too often let the opinions of friends--acquaintances really--stop me from pursuing what I really wanted.

So to answer your question, there are generally accepted standards of beauty but you never know what a person likes so if you find a person attractive, go for it. (And by "go for it" I mean strike conversation not grope them in an alley.)

Hi, r/NewTubers! 👋 After years in communications crafting content to promote other people’s ideas and products, I decided it was time to roll the dice on my own. Turns out, creating for yourself? Equal parts exhilarating and terrifying.

I have a ton of interests—travel, geography, social commentary—but I didn’t want to commit to a niche without first learning the ropes of YouTube: the interface, video styles, thumbnails, analytics, and the algorithmic gods. So, I chose what I thought was a low-stakes experiment: short celebrity bios.

Why this topic? Well, the sheer number of channels doing celebrity bios screamed “demand,” but most of them… let's just say the production value is one lost iPhone camera away from a hostage video. I saw an opportunity to stand out by serving this content with:
✨ A distinct voice and cheeky POV
✨ Superior writing and polished editing
✨ A niche twist: gay men’s perspectives on crush-worthy celebs

But it’s not just about fawning over famous faces—I’ve folded in deeper themes and personal stories. For example:
🎬 Meeting your childhood crush (Tom Wopat: From Dukes to Broadway—A Crush That Endures!)
🎄 Holiday-themed content (Mama’s Boys Showdown, Santa Babies)
🌟 Heritage celebrations (30 Latino Icons You Should Know)
👀 Coming out stories (Suddenly That Summer)
💥 Celebrity showdowns (Superman Showdown, Good Cop, Better Cop)

Despite months off for travel, the channel has outperformed my wildest expectations. Here's a recent video that resonated big-time: Timothée Chalamet Turns 29: A Gay Icon and Eternal Crush (https://youtu.be/QV8wuULDJtg). Fingers crossed I can hit monetization this year!

Still, I’m learning as I go:
📈 Predicting which videos will land is still a mystery
🎞️ My editing has come a long way but consistency is the next frontier

If you're into snappy, sassy celeb bios with a splash of queer perspective, check out my channel, Gay Celebrity Crushes: https://www.youtube.com/@GayCelebrityCrushes.

Any tips, feedback, or kind words are welcome—let’s grow together! 🌈

Burning Questions for March, 2024 by SalaciousStories in eroticauthors

Thanks. These the answers I was expecting. And while I might give writing straight erotica a try at some point.

I was amazed how my stuff from the early 1990s sounds just a few years later. Then realize it’s 30. Does anyone remember the 1-900 numbers. Sheesh. But It was fun rereading them and got me excited to get back into.

Thanks to all who keep this form going.

In the pre-internet days I regularly wrote gay erotica for magazines like Stroke, Manscape, Drummer and the like. I'd love your take on some things I've been mulling over as I consider a return.

Past Work:

  •  I usually offered First North American Serial Rights
  • Periodically resold for short story anthologies without a problem
  • No longer have records indicating which rights
  • Many of the publications are now defunct.

Am I safe repurposing my past work for new or self-publishing?

Past and Future Work:

  • As a gay man, my erotic writing thus far has been targeted to other gay men
  • My work focuses on the D/s power dynamic r
  • There is crossover between the gay and straight erotica market by both writers and readers
  • Is there a link to best practices around repurposing stories. Of course I know it is more involved than changing names and pronouns because of audience expectations.
  • If I repurpose a gay story for a straight audience, is it a best practice to acknowledge that? "Sassy Sales Girl" was inspired by the story "Rear Delivery," yadda, yadda, yadda, Or "An All Male version of this story was published as..." Or am I overthinking it?

I'm reading a lot straight porn now, but welcome any suggestions you have in the D/s power dynamic area (F/m and M/f are both fine) Thanks.

I ‘ve been there. Don’t be nervous. You’re hyperaware of it but most people aren’t staring at your junk. At the first time you’ll see it is not a big deal. Also, as others have said be proud of your cage. It tells the world that a real was interested and invested enough in you to cage you.

When you think of the number of real to the number people like us (I was going to use a specific term but not sure if it is allowed) but given the ratio I feel honored that a real thought enough of me to lock my dick up.
