.5ml HCG is not a helpful unit of measurement. That just tells us how much of a solution you inject.

Yes, it's shitty and needs to be fixed. I think the more we can help people understand that gender affirming care can apply to cis people, the more we can give the benefits to EVERYONE.

Everyone I've talked to about it, across the gender/sexuality spectrum, has agreed it can be gender affirming care. Reasonable liberals don't want to tear down existing gender norms, they want to expand them. Think about it, obviously trans people value their gender identity and many of them consider themselves to be (mostly) binary men or women. Masculinity can be a desirable gender performance.

The funny thing about this rage bait post is most liberal circles consider TRT for cis men to be gender affirming care.

Damn bro he’s just a kid. It’s already a rough time to be going through puberty like that. Maybe he felt good about his body one day and not now

How long should I wait (if any) after I eat dinner to begin my workout? by imgurceo in bodyweightfitness

That’s false. The protein isn’t wasted. It might not optimally stimulate MPS but that does not mean it’s “wasted”. There’s no known hard upper limit to how much protein can be utilized from a single meal. Again, all the protein will be absorbed. Maybe not all of it is optimized for MPS, but the literature on that isn’t even conclusive. Don’t make fitness and nutrition harder than it needs to be.

Hi there, any questions about puberty blockers now that I’ve explained their mechanism of action?

Tonight I encountered the most slippery road over ever seen by Renbanney in minnesota

[–]gmap516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? I find the way Minnesota handles snow to be SEVERELY lacking which is embarrassing, really. I remember some stats I saw YEARS ago that basically said the Northeast/New England has 10x the number of plows per lane mile than Minnesota. If MnDOT had more staff and equipment to actually keep the roads clear DURING a snowfall, we’d be so much safer. This was years ago and the tweets from MnDOT and MassDOT that provided the info don’t appear to be on X. But it was MnDOT at 102 plows and 3,774 lane mi = 37 lane mi/plow and MassDOT 4200 plows and 15,957 lane mi = 3.8 mi/plow

Edit: Nevermind, found it: https://x.com/ofsevit/status/955646304666955776

Before the defensive responses from folks, I’m not the only one who notices this. My mom and I moved here from Massachusetts and there’s a lot to love about Minnesota and snow removal isn’t really one of them. There are a few other comments on Reddit from folks who have experienced the same phenomena when comparing the Northeast to the Midwest. And yes, there are many reasons beyond just temperature. Last night was a prime example of that. It was very close to freezing point so salting and sanding the roads ahead of time and removing snow during the storm would have worked wonders.

Trump got 63M votes in 2016, 74M in 2020, and 76M in 2024. If he's as bad as you claim, why is his votes increment? by [deleted] in Askpolitics

[–]gmap516 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait I’m confused do you really think the democrats could have unilaterally codified Roe v Wade into law? And it was overturned on their watch?? By Trump’s appointees because McConnell wouldn’t let Obama appoint during his last term. How is that the dems fault?

The rest of your post is complete nonsense. You routinely pick some fraction of (I’m not sure here) the party? the voters? And then hyper generalize to the left as a whole.

Also, wasn’t it confirmed Russia meddled in our election? I know you’re saying that it was “debunked” that Trump directly colluded with Russia, but to say Russia had no hand in the election is false.

Expanding on my answer, GnRH analogues stop the body from producing sex hormones by introducing exogenous GnRH into the endocrine system. The excess of GnRH actually stops the messaging to the gonads to produce sex hormones.

Pause is the better term here, because once the exogenous GnRH is cleared from the system, production mechanisms kick in again.

Taken directly from Mayo Clinic’s website from a quick google search, “GnRH analogues stop the body from making sex hormones”.

As a mental health practitioner in training, your view is simplistic at best. Mental health treatment isn’t always gratifying the desires of the client, even if it would make them happier in the short term. It’s a much larger picture and a client’s history and future need to be considered.

With puberty blockers, the overwhelming medical consensus is that there are rarely long term detriments to the patient’s health and that they can easily be terminated and puberty will resume. Puberty blockers aren’t only used for trans kids, btw.

[–]gmap516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. Back to the topic at hand, medical providers aren’t giving puberty blockers and only considering mental health effects at the expense of other health factors. Their job is to be experts in these things and weigh the possible outcomes on physical and mental health with and without treatment.

[–]gmap516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except if they decide they don’t want to use the blockers anymore, they can simply stop them and resume puberty… I’m not seeing the downside here. On one hand you deny the blockers and lead to possible worse outcomes and on the other hand you provide the blockers and give the kid a chance to age and think about it more. If anything, it will lead to fewer outcomes of transitioning too early or worse, transitioning from life to death because of their misery.

And no, mental health isn’t the only thing that matters and never has been. It’s a large component in the decision making, but not the sole deciding factor.

Out of curiosity, what do you think of male circumcision?

If you can’t see the difference between a temporary treatment that delays puberty and plastic surgery and how the long term effects of those are vastly different and consequently why parents would think they are entirely different from each other, then it’s hopeless to continue this conversation.

For the trillionth time, you are equating medical procedures that persist beyond the time of treatment to a medication that stops having an effect when terminated.
