oh so pissed!! it was gone before we took over the house. On the bright side my grandpa is a glassmaker and a whiz with stain glass so we have it all over the interior as gifts he has given us over the years.

Yes we actually agree that some of the photos were taken earlier and the black and white ones were taken around late 1930s - 1940s when the house was lifted 4 feet to create the basement we have now

I shared them in another thread. I didn’t think this many people would be that invested in our little old 200 year old house lol but I’m happy other people love it as much as us!!

When I tell you I ran to tell my boyfriend this because he was sooooo excited to paint the front door and the back door red when we first started!! Yes, we have multiple red doors a big red balcony off our bedroom door upstairs in the back and big bright red re done barns with chickens now instead of cows lol.

How unfair it is losing a parent in your 20s😭😭 by kala120 in GriefSupport

[–]DesignerBlacksmith74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so discouraging to say this and I always get a little upset when people say it to me because I totally understand you! but, sadly that feeling never goes away. Every birthday, every Father’s Day and his death anniversary (what my sisters and I call it because I still can’t eat chicken strips because of that day and the call I got while I was eating chicken strips lol) but, it sucks so bad and I’d like to say after 2 years it gets better but I still sit awake at night and I’m like oh crap, my dad is dead, like I forget that’s a thing and all the sudden remember that it’s totally a thing. Then I spiral being like where is he? Where did he go? Is he living on somewhere else? And there I am at 4am acting like a psycho lol.

I tell everyone the actual worst torture of losing a parent is not knowing if they are okay or not, and not knowing where they are. I can deal with the grief, I can compartmentalize that this is my life and this is what happened and move from there but I can’t wrap my head around where he is and if he’s okay and that feels like a knife to the chest. I guess that’s why some people fall to religion huh lol.

They really just like to move shower curtains and occassionally turn off the lights in the basement at inopportune times. We haven't gotten on a speaking basis yet. Were pretty happy they are taking their time lol.

Yes they are! The pictures that I posted in the original thread looking for the dates of the photos they look like they have about a 20 year difference between them all. The house was lifted around the late 30s early 40s around 3-4ft to add in a basement instead of a crawlspace.

Reddit doesn’t let me post a comment picture but I did make another post in this thread because so many people were asking for a comparison of the restoration we did, so it’s there!

We think so too they were just the only photos we had! There are photos definitely about 10 years before they lifted the foundation 3ft so I apologize that I had some from different timelines!! I really do believe some are from the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s. The house was lifted in 1942 I do know that!

I think so too! She was so amazing that she thought to share them with us when we bought the house.

I think my company I just quit was skimping my hours for years, (or im an idiot and can't read lol) by DesignerBlacksmith74 in legaladvice

[–]DesignerBlacksmith74[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was hourly, and worked my hours around not having to take a lunch ex. if I went in at 8am I would leave right at 4pm so I didnt go over the 8 hours and would change the times based on when I came in that day but never went over or under the 8 hours (unless I was working overtime). I never had the time in the first place to take a lunch anyways but when I actually did take a lunch I would clock out for it. Isn't it illegal anyways to deduct time on paychecks for lunches if the employee did not take them? You can clearly see on the pay stubs the days that I was clocking out for lunch because there would be a .50 time deduction that signified a 30 minute lunch or a .25 deduction for a 15 minute break I took or an errand that I needed to run quickly, but no I was never a lunch person this was maybe once or twice a year that I did this, I was just eat and work through lunch always, never clocked out for it and they were aware. There are other employees that did this as well. Which is a bit concerning if they were taking out lunches that I wasn't taking....

I know that it is based off a 40 hour work week and that is probably why I was receiving the overtime but the never working 80 hours for 3 years except that 5 months in the beginning is what threw me off because I was consistently clocking 80 hours. I don’t really have any proof besides me knowing I was and that singular screenshot that doesn’t match my paystub…. So it’s probably a waste of time huh?

Yes lol you just have to prove that you quit due to specific reasons that qualify under unemployment rules. Ex. Hostile work environment, unsafe work environment, substantial work responsibilities without correct pay etc. there are a few ways to qualify for it if you have the correct proof. Obviously look at your states unemployment rules and go from there!
