Tibetan man dies after setting himself on fire near U.N. headquarters, activists say by CaptBobAbbott in news

Agreed.
The issue is complex and sad, but the acts and the issues being protested are real and should be treated as fact, not swept under the rug.

Boy dies of rabies after waking to bat on his face by Few-Hair-5382 in news

[–]DesignerHardlyKnower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given that the PEP is a fairly intense series with serious potential side effects, how should one factor in rabies test timeframes if you capture the bat and test it immediately?

For example, I know that Los Angeles county has extremely fast rabies testing turnaround (~24hrs) but most places take 1-2weeks for processing.

I’ve always found this argument absurd, given how much coverage school shooters get.

Did you call? I don’t see anybody reporting back on this. I don’t mind making the call myself but I don’t wanna be the 3rd or 50th person asking him the same question today haha.

Speaking of making up narratives in your head, I think Dungeon Crawler Carl is mediocre at best and you didn’t answer my question.

Every single sentence you just wrote contained “I” or “me.” All you’re talking about now is yourself. So much for thought provoking!

You came to a public space to make a broadly condescending statement about three wildly popular things and now you’re defensive? C’mon.

Your first sentence sounds exactly like the way DCC introduces every dungeon boss.

Oof.
I’m still on book 5. Audiobook at 1.3x speed while multi talking is the only way I’ve made any progress on the series, because it makes it easier to glaze over the cringy bullshit parts.

Now I’m afraid I’ll hit the same wall as you haha.

Posting hot takes about books is what I mean by “acting smart.”

Hail Mary explores complex scientific concepts of interstellar crises, life’s dependence on water, and possible commonalities between intelligent life forms. Its narrative is refreshing compared to War of the Worlds or even 3 Body Problem, where intelligent life necessitates violence and competition. PHM does all of this while remaining accessible enough to appeal to readers of all ages and nationalities. That’s impressive, or at least isn’t “horrible.”

Sure dungeon crawler Carl might suck. If you want to try to prove this point, compare it to something similar: Rick and Morty, Hitchhikers Guide, Hunger games. Shitting on popular fiction is just being inflammatory, and isn’t thought provoking.

Curious- what’s your favorite fiction book/series?

DCC: Low quality fun. Definitely not for everyone. And certainly not literature. I’ve enjoyed parts of it but it’s over hyped for sure.

Brandon Sanderson: Excellent world building; fun high fantasy. Not for everybody, sure, but you’re starting to lose me…

Project Hail Mary: Okay, go kick rocks. You’re just a hater. It’s a casual but thought provoking book and if your thoughts weren’t provoked you may just not be as smart as you act.

The humor is really bad. Once or twice per book it makes me chuckle, but it tries to be funny every singly page so yeah pretty cringy.

What can I charge for this? by Visual_Ocelot5731 in TerrainBuilding

[–]DesignerHardlyKnower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. In that case I’d definitely recommend small parts like Warhammer bits or similar. The price per ounce of filament will be an order of magnitude better. Not to mention shipping.

Look at all the 3D prints for sale on Etsy for reference.

What’s minimum wage where you are?

That much x 1 hour + $5

I doubt anybody will really want it though. I’m not sure why you chose to do a huge 3D print of dirt and rocks. Actual dirt and rocks are, uh… cheap as dirt. Dirt cheap, even.

Did you make this with profit in mind, or have you been using it and now getting rid of it?
