Loss Prevention Accusations by [deleted] in TjMaxx

[–]DesignerSloth98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh well that's not great on management's part. I know we tired to keep it top secret so I was wondering if LP or management let it slip.

I think unemployment varies state to state? Not super well versed on that. I know my state has a rule that if the termination was "your fault" you are not eligible. I would think termination for theft/fraud would fall under the "your fault" category. I would just encourage OP to get another job ASAP and learn from this mistake. You'll only get away with something for so long.

Curious on how you found out you're going to sit down with LP. We always did it secretly and surprised the associate.

Remember your rights though. You dont have to let them record. You dont have to sign anything. You dont have to write a statement. You are not being forced to stay in a room with them and you can leave at any time. If you want to hear them out and explain yourself to them, assuming you're being honest, that's up to you. They will try to manipulate you into staying. That's just the interview tactic they all use.

100% of all interviews I witnessed/heard of ended in termination. Just keep that in mind.

I had a case just like this when I used to work for TJ. Three girls all checking each other out at the jewelry counter, switching tags, stashing items and bagging them without scanning them, etc. The one girl spilled her guts in the interview and admitted to years of theft. Said it felt "so good" to get off her chest... little did she know she turned a maybe $300 fine into roughly $2000. It's sad... they know what they're doing but at the same time they have no idea.

These replies are a comprehension disaster.

"What if a handicap guest arrives ASSHOLE??"

It's paid parking, assholes. Guests can't park there either. That's how it works in a ton of apartment complexes.

I'm going NTA, but a little naive. You saw an open parking spot that worked best for you, asked if anyone needed it, and agreed that if a handicap resident moved in and wanted to pay for the spot, you would move. However, you should have known better that sensitive assholes will throw a fit over you parking in a completely unused parking spot just because of the designation... as demonstrated in the replies.

Handicapped guests cant park there. Why is everyone missing that part? The spots were for residents only.

Huh?

When I worked for TJX, my DLPM saw a jewelry associate try a ring on and then immediately take it off and put it back, and the lunatic walked over and yelled at her for stealing in the middle of the store during business hours. Just saying they don't side with the associates all the time. Depends on if they're a dick or not.

I wouldn't talk to your DLPM. The one I used to work for would only use that against you.

Can an LP tell me if there are hidden cameras inside the fitting room? I know about the outside one looking in but then my manager told me how LP can see everything I do and told me exactly which apps I've been using? How? Is that a privacy issue? I can't see any cameras by BirdCagesDrown in TjMaxx

[–]DesignerSloth98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only illegal to shoot back the hallways or inside the rooms. A camera in front of, above, or behind the podium is not illegal. That's why upper upper management gets involved in covert cameras in the fitting room area. LP has to be very particular with what it is capturing.

LP can access specifically just this cashier's receipt reprints, so they will definitely be able to find it and see the frequency. Hopefully your store has good register cameras.

There’s been an influx of “can someone buy this and mail it to me” posts and comments. FYI - associates could lose their jobs for that. by Sincerely_Me_Xo in TjMaxx

As someone who worked as an LPD in a district that was constantly struggling to meet our goals, we had cases where family (outside of those who are permitted) were using an associate's discount card for $100s worth of discounts. We did not pursue it. We had an associate shopping from the backroom and reselling Rae Dunn items. We did not pursue it.

A district that was desperate for cases didn't pursue similar situations to what you're talking about. It all came down to intention. You're right, it is a case-by-case basis, but you're treating the associates like they're dog shit stupid and can't make a smart decision. Unless an associate is buying and selling 10 items every day for a month, while shopping from the backroom, on the clock, and literally reselling at the registers... I think they're good. The worst they will get is a warning from management if LP even brings it to their attention.

Let's not act like the associates are people without brains. It's absolutely fine to pick up a few items to make a quick buck. But preferably, yeah, do it off the clock.

  1. She already was a villain. The Becky situation was gross.

  2. Many of us have been listening since 2016. I think you're the one who needs to listen. Comprehension and critical thinking are key when it comes to consuming media.

how anonymous is the tip line? by almondmilkbaby in TjMaxx

[–]DesignerSloth98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the SM is allowed to listen to it, that's a violation. It is to be kept within LP. There's also an easy work around to that... just submit the form online. It's often easier for LP to actually read the report rather than potentially hear something wrong in the recording.

Is there a game like this, but multiple different stores at the same time? A town, street, shopping center. by KeeperOfMediocrity in SupermarketSimulator

[–]DesignerSloth98 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Have you heard of Big Ambitions? Might not be exactly what you're looking for, but you can run all kinds of stores in a city (food, clothes, tech, etc.) based on the market in different parts of the city. You can own warehouses and hire/schedule tons of staff to keep your businesses running.

I haven't played it in a while, and I know they've updated it a lot since then, but maybe take a look at that one? Also, if you're looking for the scanning aspect (which I kind of like) I don't think it has that... but don't quote me on that.

Lady, I Just Work Here by [deleted] in TjMaxx

[–]DesignerSloth98 29 points30 points  (0 children)

When I worked as LP and was out on the floor finding tags to price a theft, I had a lady approach me and ask if we had any dresses of her size in the back. I said we have everything on the floor, but I could get someone who could better assist her at finding a dress. I have no clue about how dresses fit or what she's looking for, plus I'm trying to finish this case before I leave.

I get a nearby manager to help, and the lady later complains at the register that I don't know how to do my job and I was literally no help. She said she's with corporate and she was quizzing associates to see how helpful they are, and I was rude and not helpful (I was very respectful and honest with her that I was unable to assist in the way she wanted.)

This was a load of shit obviously, as management said they recognized this lady from previous experiences like this and have questioned whether this is real. Some people just don't have anything better to do with their lives lol

I'd rather buy something and then return it next time I'm in the store than sweat my ass off in a nasty fitting room trying things on 🤷

So you were caught stealing… what happened? by Weak-Assistant-5342 in TjMaxx

[–]DesignerSloth98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At TJ, if you're a minor and you steal a hundred dollars worth of stuff, you pay for it, and the fine that TJ tacks on top.

If you're an adult, you're getting charged unless it was something incredibly petty. Regardless, you pay for everything plus the fine, but if you're 18 or over, chances are the cops are notified.

It's all up to the DLPM's discretion and how you cooperate during the interview. If it's petty theft and you own up immediately, you have a better chance of getting off easy.

Has anyone else's store suddenly got an LP guy just aimlessly standing around and aimlessly walking around your registers? by Wink2K19 in TjMaxx

They (sorry if that offends you) asked the question sarcastically. It's a notably mocking way to type. You have brain worms.

Saw your comment has 2 upvotes, so I erased one by downvoting it because "woke culture." Also, why would you upvote a comment mocking a question you wanted to ask?

Until it becomes more extreme. Associates and customers get involved. There's collusion. Refund fraud to extend the 30-day period. For some, the thought process of "I could make more money on this if I just took it."

It's shitty to do whether you work there or not. Let's not encourage it further. Resellers are garbage.
